March 31

First day of Spring Break was spent changing out the clothes. Fun times!

March 30

Lucy was a huge helper to Clay yesterday. They pulled all the weeds and leaves out of the ivy area and loosened up a bunch of soil near the shed. Clay planted grass seed by the shed and we are going to try and replant ivy.

Yum! This time the kids requested cinnamon sugar pretzels and they didn’t disappoint.

This is what happens when you don’t label your new recipes. You accidentally made bread dough when you think you are making pretzel dough.

Gus loves his boy

Another fun craft project

Clay and Elliott removed rocks from the border around these bushes and added lumber so it matches the rest of the yard.

Week #2 of quarantine complete. We cracked down on visiting with extended family, neighbors, and friends this week, which made it harder on the kids. They miss their people. Hopefully this lasts for weeks, not months. ðŸ˜ģ

March 28

Elliott and I went out on Thursday and swabbed 20 different things for a bacteria growth experiment.

Julia drew this picture of herself ðŸ˜ģ😍

Chalk art

Clay is getting ready to have a lot of free time on his hands. Every other week he is to go into work to check emails. He has started working on his “Honey Do List”... that he made last year... and typed it up into an Excel spreadsheet... complete with dates completed and amount of money spent. My dork!

Kat and Geronimo watching YouTube 😂. Let’s hope that Geronimo lives long enough to see her through this quarantine. He’s 1 1/2, so.....

These were all taken yesterday. Because we already homeschooled, life went on fairly normal for us the last two weeks. The last picture we are playing a Jeopardy game that Lucy’s co-op history teacher sent to the class.

Now we’re on Spring Break, whatever that’s going to look like...

March 27

Anyone ever feel like all they do is cook, eat, and clean the kitchen?

Kat hollered from the bathroom, “Mom! The toilet is smoking!” This is what I found. Turd.

Since we can only buy three packages of meat at the store, I am trying to cook more meals without meat. Dumplings are always a family pleaser.

Fresh air... and mosquitos! Really, March!?! Haven’t you sucked enough!?!

March 26

Crayfish dissection. Lucy’s Swimming Creatures class was supposed to dissect this in class. I traded Shannon a cow eyeball and a dissection kit for one of her crayfish and starfish. ðŸĪŠ

March 25

Kat’s teachers are having online classes until this all clears up (likely until the end of the school year). I snapped a quick picture of her Algebra 2 class.

I am thankful that she gets to continue learning from her teachers thanks to technology. We have been so impressed with her school. She had to turn in a 7 page research paper, in MLA format, with a bibliography page for her English class. Her teacher walked the class through the step-by-step process with an outline and notecards, so she was prepared to do it. I don’t think I had to write anything like that until college! And I am thankful I didn’t have to help her because... I would dissect 100 cow eyeballs if it meant never having to take an English class again!

March 24

Clay had yesterday off work.

Since co-op can’t meet in person, we’ve had to come up with alternative ways to teach. I dissected a cow eyeball and the kids were able to virtually attend class.  How crazy cool! I sure do miss these sweet kids. Elliott and Lucy were watching me do it. Elliott wanted no part of touching the eyeball. He said it was more disgusting than the sheep heart. Lucy was pretty interested in touching it.

Elliott is now helping Julia and Kat with grass cutting. We spent a couple of hours outside doing yard work.

Doing our part for the economy. New dishwasher? ✔️ New lawn mower? ✔️

March 23

Yep, we need to eat more sugar during the quarantine.

Lucy finished reading The Boxcar Children for co-op. Her teacher asked the kids to make a diorama, art project, or write a book report when they completed the book. Lucy made the youngest brother’s teddy bear.

Sunday evenings I usually plan out the week. I spent most of my time crossing everything out instead of trying to arrange carpooling.

We played Ticket to Ride last night as a family. I have enjoyed the slower pace this last week. Looking forward to warmer, sunny weather so that we can (hopefully) play outside.

March 22

Mamaw and Abbie, and Lucy and I were supposed to go to a Mother-Daughter Tea at church yesterday. It was cancelled due to the Corona Virus. Mamaw and Bapaw got all dressed up and had a fancy tea at their house with the girls. I love that they did that! The girls will remember that forever!

Lucy made a blanket yesterday. She is good at entertaining herself.

Kat started working on a paint-by-number project.

We purchased a new puzzle, two new games, and a new net for our basketball goal. We’re trying to find things to do that keep everyone occupied that don’t involve staring at a screen all day long.

We played the game Hearing Things last night. You try to read your partners lips. Julia and Kat were the winning team. They dominated the rest of us.

March 21

It was 70+ degrees outside and NOT raining for the first time in awhile, so we met up with Braylon’s family for a hike. We hiked over 3 miles. It was a little flooded in areas due to all the rain, but the fresh air felt so good. I have never been to a park so full of people and not one person was near the playground. Everyone was enjoying being able to get out. I have a feeling that will be taken away from us soon enough.

So far we’ve had all sports (community, college, and professional) stop, all schools are out, restaurants are only allowed to serve food in drive thru and curbside, libraries are closed, gyms, salons, Bingo parlors, concert halls, movie theatres, and daycares are all closed. Soon they will tell us not to go to parks and to stay in our homes except to go to the dr and grocery store. This is all just within the last week. It’s crazy how fast things have changed in a week. One day my kids will be able to tell their kids what life was like before, during, and after the Corona Virus.
