Happy Birthday Clay!

Lucy made Clay monkey bread for his birthday breakfast.

After taking Kat on a 2 mile run (Elliott and I were on bikes), Lucy wanted to go on a bike ride.

Still have to do chores in the summer...

Boxing class two days in a row- I am going to be sore tomorrow!

Is it just me, or has May flown by?

The neighbors across the street recently had their daughter and granddaughter move back here to town. Lucy and Clara started running around and singing, etc like they'd known each other for years.

The wire came out of the bottom bracket of Julia's braces - daddy to the rescue!

Elliott was at the neighbors house all day on Saturday - from 10am until we made him come home at 6pm. Why? The big sister graduated high school and they had an inflatable water slide. The kids all got to enjoy it for a couple of hours during the party.

 Movie night snuggles

While my nerds were enjoying chess, I sat on the front porch and enjoyed a storm.

We celebrated Clay's birthday last night with his parents and grandparents.

We found this rock at the zoo. We've stumbled upon a whole new subculture. Did you know there are groups of people that paint rocks and hide them in public places? Google it. You can rehide the rocks or keep them.

We added ours to Julia's fairy garden.

I added "painting/hiding rocks" to our summer bucket list.

I took the kids to the zoo yesterday. We hadn't been in so long that the kids really enjoyed the animals. For awhile, we went so frequently, the kids enjoyed climbing statues and playing on the playground more than the animals. I was hoping that by going early in the summer, we'd avoid daycares and summer camps and also enjoy cooler weather. Apparently lots of other moms felt the same way. It was pretty crowded, but cool enough outside that it ended up being a great day.

The new butterfly exhibit was neat. You go inside this tent and they are flying all around you. The zoo worker said there are somewhere around 500 butterflies in the exhibit. The kids have decided that we need to plant meteor shower verbena. The largest concentration of butterflies was on this flower.

It wasn't hard to talk me into an Icee when I saw they had a Banana Laffy Taffy flavored one - yummy!

Once again, Julia took better pictures than me:

May 26

Burning off some energy at open gym.

We got the letter this week that Julia has officially moved up to level 4 in competitive gymnastics. What does this mean? She will learn more advanced skills, spend more time at practice, and it will cost us more money (doh!).  She's a hard worker and has a good attitude (most days). We couldn't be prouder of her.
