 Happy Birthday Clay!!!

Hulk and Elliott finally had their first t-ball game yesterday. Both had fun and played hard. Hulk particularly seemed to enjoy it.

 

 Everyone trying to field the ball. This happened every time the ball was hit. EVERYONE on the team ran for it. Hulk stopped the ball 8 times. He has repeatedly told us this. He was quite proud of himself.

May 29

We had field day yesterday. Lucy got 3rd place in the ball toss. Elliott got 2nd place for the ball toss, 1st place for the kangaroo hop, 1st place for the foot race, and 2nd place for the obstacle course. Kat got 2nd place in the ball toss, 1st place in the obstacle course, 3rd place in the foot race, and 3rd place in the crab walk. Julia got 2nd place in the obstacle course, 1st place in the foot race, 1st place in the crab walk, and 1st place in the potato sack race. Hulk didn't place in any events, but was thrilled to get a participation ribbon and a pencil. It's the little things, folks!

 

 

 Thankfully Clay took the day off work. Lucy refused to participate without her Daddy.

 

 

 

 

May 28

Our friends Chris and Michelle are in town from Vermont, so we met up with them and their kids at the zoo splash park to play and eat lunch. At one point we got caught in a large downpour, so we hung out in the gorilla exhibit for a long time. It was Hulk's first time at the zoo and he seemed to enjoy it.

 

The kids decided to use their allowance money to get Dippin' Dots ice cream.  

We thought about cancelling our evening plans because of the rain/mud, but I am glad we didn't. We met Mamaw and Bapaw about 30 miles north of town to pick strawberries and eat dinner. We had awesome weather and it apparently didn't rain up there, so it wasn't muddy. The weather, and the face that it was a weeknight, kept the crowds away, so we practically had the place to ourselves.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

May 27

 

Kat and Elliott took a trial Jiu Jitsu lesson last night. Because, you know, we aren't involved in enough activities. Clay and Elliott may take classes on a regular basis. Kat decided to stick with basketball instead.

Julia and Kat went to a slumber party this weekend for their sweet friend whose family is getting ready to be missionaries. They will be missed.

Gus isn't sure what to think of 'Smores. He wants to play with him, but he is also nervous around him. Only our 50 pound dog would be scared of a teeny tiny critter!

May 24

 

Meet 'Smores. Julia has researched hamsters for over a month (library books, internet research, and even typed her own book about hamster care). She persuaded Clay into taking her to the pet store to buy this hamster. She saved up her allowance and bought it with her own money. Her Dad was so proud of all the research she'd done, she could have asked for about anything. She knew more about hamsters than the people at the pet store. Seriously! I am just wondering how long it takes before this little critter is loose in my house!?!

May 23

Clay got home yesterday!!! We are very happy to have him back home again.

Julia had gymnastics last night. Clay stayed at gymnastics to watch her and I took the rest of our crew to a park to play and have snow cones.
