Mamaw G is home from the hospital now, but is very weak and Papaw cannot care for her alone. For now Susie and Pat are helping, but hopefully she'll be moved to rehab soon until she gets her strength back.
Last night Clay and I had a date night, but almost as soon as we got to the restaurant I started feeling lousy. I couldn't eat my food(!). We came home after dinner and lounged on the couch in our pajamas. I feel fine this morning.
This is Julia's bedhead. Tornado Julia must have struck in the middle of the night again!

Prayer Request: Mamaw G has been in the hospital for 3 days now with pneumonia. She is getting ready to be released (praise). However, she's still very weak and Papaw cannot take care of her at home. But the Rehab facilities can't accept her either because she is too weak to walk herself to the bathroom, etc. Pray that this is resolved in everybody's best interests! Also pray for Pat as she is exhausted and it doesn't look like she's going to get a break any time soon.

Last night Julia's school had a skate party, so the girls and I went roller skating. Kat started out holding my hand (which was not so great since I am not very steady on skates myself anymore). After a couple of laps, she let go and did much better skating on her own - very slowly.
Whooped!
Julia skated all by herself all night. She fell alot because she tried to go fast. But she'd get right back up and skate some more.

Clay stayed home from work yesterday because he was sick. Mamaw took Kat for the day so they could have some 1x1 time. So it was just me, Elliott, and Clay. Elliott took a 3 hour nap and I got a TON of stuff done around the house and some errands run. Clay went to the doctor and got antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection. Hopefully he'll be feeling better soon.
I think it's safe to say that he will enjoy swimming this summer!
We put a booster seat at the table for Elliott yesterday. He looks like such a big boy! Now we're going to have to buy some more chairs or a bench for the table so we can get rid of the highchair for good!
I love the way toddlers run!Monday, January 24, 2011

Yesterday morning we stayed home from church. Elliott's still getting over the crud, so I didn't want him in the nursery when there are so many cooties going around. Elliott was going to stay home with Clay, but Clay woke up with a low-grade fever and was achy, so he was banished to the bedroom for the day.
Instead, I took the kids to the Louisville Slugger Museum. It had free admission, so I figured if it's not interesting to the kids, at least it won't cost anything. They ended up enjoying it. both girls were shocked to learn that baseball bats (and anything wood) came from trees. They kept listing things in the house made out of wood and asking if it came from a tree too.

The girls favorite part of the museum was the souvenir bats they each received. Elliott likes to chew on his. Extra fiber, right?

Happy Birthday Mamaw G!
Yesterday we took the girls (and Elliott) to a "Princess Garden Party" at the Disney Store. It was crowded, but the girls had a lot of fun. Clay and Elliott ended up walking the mall while the girls and I were at the party because it was so crowded (and there was just a little too much pink for them). Did I mention that it was crowded?

While Elliott napped, the girls and I played outside in the snow. We put food coloring and water in a water bottle and decorated the snow. Next time I am going to have some squirt bottles on hand for this. The girls enjoyed it, but they used up their water quickly.
We also made Snow Cones:
2 Cups Sugar
1 Cup Water
1 Packet Kool-Aid
Mix sugar and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Add Kool-Aid. Cool in fridge in a pitcher. Pour over snow!
