February 28

Apparently we had some nasty storms come through during the early morning hours. School was on a 2 hour delay. Mamaw Pat ate lunch at school with Julia and then took her shopping for books at the Book Fair.

Clay and Julia cut out and sanded her car for the AWANA Grand Prix tonight.

Last night we hung out with our friends and had a great time. We don't see each other often enough!

February 26

Yuck!

Last night Scottie babysat so we could go on a date. She brought Brady and Caleb with her. They played Wii Just Dance for Kids.

Today it was our turn to babysit. We had Nathaniel and Madelyn while their parents were in foster parent training. We took everyone to the Science Museum.

The kids got to make Floam (kind of like silly putty with teeny tiny foam balls in it).

Floam Recipe:
2 tsp borax
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup white glue
1/4 cup water
food coloring
1 1/3 cup polystyrene beads (the teeny tiny foam balls)

1. Dissolve 2 tsp borax completely in 1/2 cup water.
2. In a separate container, mix 1/4 cup white glue and 1/4 cup water. Stir in food coloring.
3. Pour the glue solution and the polystyrene beads into a plastic bag. Add borax solution and knead until it's mixed well.

February 25

Gus leads a rough life, doesn't he? I took him to the vet this morning to get his final vaccination. He weighs 33 pounds, which is double what he weighed 2 months ago when we got him. He puked in my van on the drive home. Lovely.

I was cooking dinner when Kat came up the stairs and said,"Mommy, Elliott took his diaper off!". I grabbed my camera and this is what I found. How funny.

When I went to pick up the diaper, I saw poop! Not funny. I cleaned up the poop that had fallen out of the diaper. Really not funny.

Poor Gus. During the whole diaper mess, I forgot that I had let him outside. He was outside in the rain/mud for at least 10 minutes. I took him straight to the bathtub. Then I also got to clean out the tub as a fun (not) bonus.

After the pooping incident, dog's bath, and cleaning out the tub, it was time to finish cooking dinner...

I would like to say I had a nice peaceful time while I was trying to prepare dinner. Instead, Elliott was right under foot crying/begging for food, which is what Elliott usually does when I am cooking. Talk about a true "witching hour."

Just so you don't get the wrong impression of our life, I wanted to keep it real for you!

February 24

Last night Mamaw Pat stayed home with Julia and Elliott (Clay had to work late). Kat and I went out for dinner and then to AWANA. Thanks Mamaw!!!

Julia complained of an earache when she woke up yesterday. It actually seemed to bother her alot more than the flu ever did. We went to the doctor and got antibiotics for a double ear infection. The good news is that she is acting like a wild woman this morning chasing the dog around. Time to go back to school!!!

February 23

So many things to say about this picture: bed head, life vest, Twizzlers, missing his pants, and that silly smirk. It makes me laugh.

Julia did great all day yesterday. Then at bedtime, she had a fever - again! This makes 5 days of school that she will miss. Hopefully she'll be able to go back tomorrow. It's a good thing that 1 - she's smart, and 2 - she's only in Kindergarten!

PS - Anyone have any tricks to get a 6 year-old to not suck her thumb!?!

Clay helped me make cinnamon rolls last night. Yum!

Kat is "Child of the Day" at school today. They are learning the letter "R", so we made rainbow finger jello. Isn't it cool!?! I got the recipe from here.

Window Peeper

Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!

We went to school yesterday and picked up Julia's makeup work and homework. Kat wanted to do "homework" too.

Elliott clapping for himself after putting a block in the shape sorter.

Julia woke up yesterday morning fever free, but had a fever in the afternoon of 101. She is staying home from school again today. Go away flu!!!

February 21

Clay and Julia started working on her car for the AWANA Grand Prix (similar to the Pinewood Derby)

We ate dinner at the Pizza King. Elliott loved the train that brought our drinks. We've eaten there several times, but this was the first time he'd really noticed the train.

February 20

Elliott does not watch any TV, except for this DVD we have called "Animal Songs". It's a bunch of songs from the 70s/80s. He loves it! It's one of the few times he will sit still.

Julia woke up this morning and didn't have a fever!!! But this afternoon it was back up to 100.5. I guess this means no school tomorrow.

Elliott was in his room playing quietly alone. Clay and I had an idea of what he was doing (but didn't want to find out). When Elliott was done emptying out the wipes container, he realized he was stuck on top of the changing table, so he started whining for someone to come get him. I took my camera and this is what I found. Stinker!

Happy Birthday Aunt Terah!

The girls gave Elliott and me Fancy Nancy Makeovers

The girls played school for a long time yesterday. They took their students out to recess in the bottom picture.

Elliott saw the girls imitating this commercial. Here is Elliott using "the force".
