October 31

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is one of my favorite days of the year. I love visiting with the neighbors, seeing them and some of the older people in our neighborhood get a kick out of the kids in their costumes. It's fun.

 

Lucy changed her mind about being Annie after trick-or-treating at the zoo. I don't think she like her hair in those curls. She also said she didn't look much like Annie (Hello kid! Were you looking in the mirror!?!).

 

 

 Several neighbors sat outside around their fire pits and handed out drinks and popcorn, which was a neat idea. Clay appreciated it. :P

 

 After a few blocks, Julia and Lucy were done, so we brought them home. I took Kat and Elliott back out for another hour or so.

 

 

 This day was made for Kat!

We did schoolwork yesterday, but are now taking our fall break. Clay is off work for the next 3 days, so we are going to hang out with him.

October 30

I babysat the H boys yesterday afternoon.

 

 Anatomy class got to demonstrate the digestive system today. Kat isn't in this picture. She was at the end of the line, as the rectum, she took the waste and put it in the garbage can. Ha!

 I fed my Flying Creatures class jello worms today.

 They also dissected owl pellets. As you can see by Elliott's face, he was less than thrilled.

 This was yummy - warm caramel apple cider

Spaghetti monster - it's an annual tradition now.

October 29

Friday night, Julia and I went to see Jonathan in a play. He was hilarious! He had the audience laughing like crazy. We love this crazy kid.

Also Friday night, Elliott got to go to a lock-in at the gym. I want to be in the Nerf gun war!

 

Yesterday morning Julia's gym had Halloween contests and treats for tricks (flips/skills). Her group of Pink Ladies/T-Birds won.

 

 Clay wanted to shave his head. I wanted no part of it, so he got Elliott to do it for him.

 

 Can you see the glare coming off Clay's scalp!?! Ha!

 Kat is a perfectionist in everything - including scooping the guts out of a pumpkin.

 

Clay had plans last night to play poker with his buddies/co-workers. The kids and I were supposed to meet up with Hulk (we haven't seen him since June 2016). He ended up being sick. This was the second time in 2 weeks we were supposed to see him and didn't get to. Elliott (me too) is really excited to see him. Hopefully soon...

Since we didn't have to go anyplace, we stayed home and ordered pizza and watched E.T. This is the first time in about 2 months that we didn't have plans and it was marvelous. I love fall weather, fall foods, and all the fall activities. But this Mama is worn out and needed to have a night at home. I mopped the floor for the first time in a couple of months (gross, I know) and got laundry done. Do I live it up or what!?!

 I pureed a pumpkin - got 16 cups of puree- now to make pumpkin bread, cookies, cakes, casseroles, etc. Love me some pumpkin!

October 28

 

 Suit Rolling at the gym... everyone buys suits/dresses from the Goodwill, and as they are doing jiu jitsu, they try and tear each other's clothes. Strange Halloween tradition. At least Clay left with most of his clothes in tact.

October 27

 Mamaw Pat took the kids on a co-op field trip to an apple orchard/pumpkin patch yesterday. I got to eat a yummy lunch with two of the sweetest people ever- Papaw G and Ma-Maw C. Love them to pieces!

 

 

 

 

October 26

 Elliott had to get his warts frozen again yesterday, so the dermatologist showed him her nifty "magic" trick with liquid nitrogen.

 

 

 

The water company had a "trick-or-treatment" program yesterday, so we went after dropping Julia off at gymnastics.

 The youth group had Shoktoberfest with pumpkin decorating, pumpkin launching, costume contests, bonfire with 'Smores, etc.

October 25

 Hot chocolate and a good book. 

I didn't realize how colorful Lucy's outfit was until we got to piano lessons yesterday.

October 24

 Elliott's history class at co-op has been learning about King Tut and other pharaohs of ancient Egypt.

Last night the gym had a jiu jitsu class for parents to join their kids. Clay and I both attended. It was alot of fun. The kids loved having the adults in there with them.

October 23

 Clay and I took separate vans to church yesterday (he had to leave directly from church to go out of town for jiiu jitsu training). Julia, Kat, and I had just pulled into the parking lot when Clay called to say that his van had a flat tire. I dropped the girls off (thankfully Mamaw Pat went to our church yesterday), then headed back to get Elliott and Lucy from Clay's van. I picked them up and left. Clay was getting the spare on just fine. I got back to church with the two little people, when Clay called to say the spare was also flat. Seriously!?! So I went back to get Clay, get the tire plugged and both tires aired up. We missed service completely.

 

After church, Julia and Elliott went to friends' houses, and we brought a few friends to our house. The kids had fun, and I was able to prep for co-op and managed to get the winter clothes put into drawers/put summer clothes away. Win win!
