March 31

Jessica and Abbie came over for a few hours yesterday afternoon. When I told Elliott that Abbie was coming over, he jumped up and down repeatedly saying "Abbie, Abbie, Abbie!" The boy loves him some Abbie!

Our walk was apparently tiring for the wee ones.

We went to a play date with Tracy and Matthew yesterday morning.

March 29

Lucy tried rice cereal and wasn't too crazy about it. We'll try again in another week or so. None of my kids have liked it. Anyone have any advice on getting them to eat it?

And this folks, is why I married him...

March 28

Elliott, Kat, and I ate lunch at Clay's work yesterday. Last night we all went on a hike and we (Clay) stayed on the trail. It went much better than the last time we went hiking.

Here are some pictures Clay took from his weekend trip to West Liberty. He said that pretty much every building and house was either damaged or destroyed by the tornado. They worked on the church (the 3rd photo) ripping out all the walls and sub floor which were ruined from rain after the tornado took off half the roof.

March 27

I have been doing this blog for 4 years now! It's always fun to go back and look at those first posts to see how much the kids have changed. Julia was 3 and Kat was 1 1/2 when I started this 1,363 posts ago. Now we have 2 more kiddos! In 4 more years we'll have an 11 year old, 9 year old, 6 year old and 4 year old. Crazy!

Lucy is starting to spend a little time in her exersaucer.

March 26

Yesterday after church our friends Kim, Ali, and Titus came over to play. We made birds nests out of chow mein noodles and chocolate, which was fun, but messy.

March 25

Is it just me or is March going by in a blur!?!

Clay took Friday off work so that he and a few friends could head to West Liberty, KY to help tornado victims from the storms a few weeks ago. I am very proud of him for using leave from work to help others. What a good example he is setting for the rugrats!

Yesterday Peggy came over and we took the kids to the library for a family story time that involved Dr Seuss's book Bartholomew and the Oobleck. The kids then got to make oobleck and conduct a few other science experiments. Afterwards we went to McD's for lunch.

Sink or float?

Melting ice with salt, rock salt, water, food coloring, etc.

Putting baking soda into vinegar. The girls had alot of fun with this one.

oobleck - this was made of cornstarch, water, and food coloring. It was really cool, but made a big mess!

Ms Peggy the Baby Whisperer

Ms Peggy treated the rugrats to ice cream after lunch. As you can see, Elliott enjoyed most of his cone (before it fell to the floor).

March 24

Here are a few more pictures from this week that I never posted:

Visiting with Papaw G the day before his surgery

The theme for story time at the library this week was boxes. The kids got to play in, with, and decorate all sorts of boxes after the librarian read them some books about make believe using boxes. It was really cute.

I got this stroller for free (I love free stuff!)! We're putting it to use walking around the neighborhood - gotta get into my shorts!

March 23

Kat was a butterfly in her Kindergarten play last night. She was so excited all day long (actually for weeks) for the play and she did great! Our friend Scottie kept Elliott for us so Clay and I actually got to enjoy the play (we learned our lesson after Julia's Kindergarten play last year).

March 22

Happy Birthday Pa-Paw C!!!

Papaw G is having surgery this morning to fix a kink in his colon (that's my medical explanation anyways). The girls made him cards and I thought they were funny.

The front and back of Julia's card. I like the drawing of Papaw being operated on.

Kat's letter. She didn't know how to spell all the words, but she wrote them phonetically. Pretty good job if I do say so myself. Here's an interpretation in case you need one: "I hope you are okay during the surgery Papaw. I am sad. Be brave. I love you. What is your problem? I think I know. When you bend over, your stomach hurts."

March 21

Clay has been working alot of overtime the past couple of weeks. Here, he is trying to spend time with all four at once! I think we need a few more, don't you? Ha!

Funny Julia Story: I overheard Julia singing the song "I like Big Butts", thanks to kids on the school bus. Only she didn't quite have the lyrics right. Her version goes something like this: "I like big butts to sing my life..."

March 20

It is supposed to get up to 86 degrees today! In March! What is July going to be like!?! Maybe I don't want to know.

It looks like Lucy has a rubberband around her wrist.

And she even has a fat roll where her ankles are supposed to be!

March 19

Julia spent the night Saturday with Mamaw and Bapaw. Mamaw started teaching Julia to sew. Julia is very excited about it! She made this purse for her doll.

Kat made a rain stick for her school play which is later this week.

March 17

Clay had to work today, so I decided to make my little leprechauns to Bernheim Forest for a picnic and a hike. We had beautiful weather and alot of fun; although taking Elliott on a 1 mile hike (no stroller) during his naptime wasn't the best decision I've ever made.

March 16

Elliott was in little boy heaven yesterday. Our friends Tracy, Jonathan, and Matthew invited us to Safety Week at preschool. Elliott got to see a Semi, helicopter, firetruck, and train. It was a great day and we had beautiful weather.

March 15

We went to Story Time at the library yesterday. Elliott loves crafts that involve glue sticks!

It was Crazy Hair Night at AWANA last night.

Lucy is starting to find her voice...

March 14

Clay was working late last night (on those nights I usually make an easy dinner) so the kids got to have a picnic on the deck. While I was inside feeding Lucy, they decided to paint their faces with ketchup and mustard. Seriously.

Lucy slept from 9:30 last night until 7:30 this morning! Unfortunately I had to get up at 6am to exercise.... the weather is warming up here and when I tried on my summer clothes last night none of my shorts/ capris fit me. I need to lose about 15 pounds pronto. I guess I have found my motivation!

March 13

Happy Birthday Lulu!

We're having beautiful Spring weather today, so we went to the zoo.

March 12

Update: Lucy had her 3 month checkup this morning and she now weighs 12lbs, 12oz (5oth-75th percentile) and is 23 1/2 inches long (50th percentile). So she is too short for her weight - like me!

Original Post
:
We had a fun day yesterday. We headed to Lexington to watch UK Gymnastics.

The kids enjoyed finding the wildcat paws around campus.

Elliott showing pride for the Big Blue (I think he looks like Thing 1 from the Cat in the Hat).

The restaurant next to the pizza place we ate. Julia read the name, but thankfully didn't get what it meant.

Huge slice of yummy pizza

We met Aunt Dale and Uncle Greg for lunch. We got to see the first half of the UK Men's basketball game on TV.

After the meet, the gymnasts autographed free posters for everyone. The meet was pretty cool. Both girls like the floor routines the best.

One tired Kat. My neck gets stiff just looking at this!
