Julia and Kat had a (mostly) great weekend at church with the youth. They had fun playing mud games, worship time, small group discipleship, etc. Kat came home early on the second night due to exhaustion (3 hours of sleep Friday night) and having some issues with someone in her small group. Oy vey! This girl could use some prayer (Kat and the other girl). This parenting thing is so much easier when they are rowdy little toddlers!

Lucy didn't get quite the fun alone time with Clay and I that we'd hoped. Between picking Kat up early and the movie we took her to see being sold out, it was a bit of a bust. But she handled the disappointment so well! So very well! We were very proud of her. We owe that little redhead a movie date night, for sure.

Elliott had fun at all three birthdays parties he attended this weekend.

Elliott's team lost their game yesterday 18-17. Thus the sour looks on their faces in this bottom picture. The refs didn't do a very good job of controlling the game. There was alot of pushing, shoving, and some kids almost got into fights. Poor Elliott got kicked in the face once and another time he was tackled to the ground. Neither time was a foul called. There was alot of this. Parents and coaches from both teams were loud and it was intense. No thanks!

September 28

Julia and Kat were dropped off at church tonight for a weekend of worship, games, and fun with 350 kids in the youth group. Both girls were excited about it (this is HUGE for Kat who doesn't like to be away from home).

Elliott has three birthday parties, basketball practice, and a game this weekend. Lucy is going to get to enjoy having mom and dad to herself quite a bit.

We had Ryan all day yesterday. And I mean ALL day yesterday. This mama was worn out. We spent the morning at the zoo which was great. It has rained so much lately that the animals were alot more active and enjoying the dry weather/sunshine.

We took two neighbors, plus Ryan with us to church. The van was full.

Elliott took this picture of me doing schoolwork with Lucy.

 Gymnastics class

After gymnastics, I took Elliott and Lucy to a 4-H class for homeschoolers. It was all about kitchen and knife safety.

Kat made steak fajitas for dinner. Yum!

Intro to Theatre class learned about monologues vs dialogues. They then partnered up to create a dialogue of a classic fable and make sock puppets to present their dialogue. Julia and her partner are recreating the tortoise and the hare (the hare is The Flash).

Kat got sung to during announcements.

 Elliott's Botany class dissected flowers.

Happy 7th birthday, Abbie!

For Kat's birthday yesterday, she and I had some one-on-one time after church. Clay took Julia and Lucy with him to Elliott's basketball game. Kat and I grabbed lunch, went clothes shopping, and then to a cat cafe.

Kat has grown so much this year that all she had for winter wardrobe was 3 shirts, socks, and underwear. She outgrew everything - even her winter coat. Unfortunately, Julia's pants from last year are too big for her... so we went to a second-hand clothing store and got most of her winter wardrobe, including a coat, for $90. Not too bad! She was shocked at how much we spent (the girl is used to free hand-me-downs). I told her she would really be shocked if we had bought everything new.

When this place opened last month, I knew Kat would enjoy it. It's part cafe, part cat play room. The cats are all adoptable. Of course, Kat thought we should adopt one. The cat room is in an enclosed area, so if you are in the cafe, you don't have cats roaming around while you are eating. The cafe patrons observe the cat room while they enjoy their food. Cute concept. Since August 8th, almost 200 cats have been adopted from the Humane Society.

Elliott's team won 40-2. He said it wasn't much fun to dominate a team.

Food is her love language. Clay and I took Kat out for dinner last night. She chose crab legs from Red Lobster. I hope she makes a decent living or marries rich someday because the girl can eat and she has expensive taste!
