October 31

Kat, Elliott, Lucy and I joined some friends for a field trip to the Lincoln Museum and the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace NHP. We also stopped by his boyhood home in Knob Creek but it wasn't open.

I love KY in the fall

Lucy completed questions about Abraham Lincoln in the Junior Range booklet to earn a badge. The park ranger swore her in as a Junior Ranger. She was quite proud.

Julia is a girl from Stranger Things (TV show), Kat is a Snapchat app (the 8th grade dressed in different social media apps), and Lucy is an angel (duh). Last night the youth group had a fall party with costume contests, pumpkin launching, dessert competitions, a devotional, etc. The younger kids had a costume night with games, crafts, and snacks.

Here's my 3rd grade Sparkle Squad from church.

Elliott had his first wrestling meet last night. It was a practice in-house meet. He had two matches and went 1-1. He lost to the boy who won state in their weight class last year. Having that boy in his weight class will hopefully challenge him and bring out the competitor in him. He is so cute in his little singlet.

Julia is entering her monster cake in the youth group dessert contest tonight.

Clay came into town for work yesterday, so we had an impromptu lunch date.

Kat finished her pumpkin. Her original carving didn’t go as planned, so she improvised.

Lucy gave a presentation today on the turkey vulture. It was “Dress like someone else day”.

Anatomy class acted out the digestive system. This is always a favorite activity-especially when the blood passes out nutrients (candy) to the body.

Learning how the bile produced in the liver breaks down fat.

The kids added the Digestive and Renal Systems to their books.

October 27

Tucker and Lisa are in town. Clay took Julia, Tucker, and Elliott to the skate/bike park downtown for awhile.

The kids kept Tucker busy all day. I am pretty sure they wore him out. Everyone loves Tucker.

October 26

Kat needed a snack to take to a Halloween party last night. Krispy Kreme to the rescue!

Monster spaghetti

Julia’s plans for last night got cancelled. Instead, she wanted to hang out with me! We went to KY Kingdom for Halloween-fest and ride rides. I may have lost my voice from all the screaming.

Elliott went to a lock-in at the gym.

I have been running kids to activities non-stop for a couple of weeks and have worn myself out. I woke up after 10am! I haven’t slept that late since college.

October 25

Kat shadowed at Julia’s high school all day yesterday. She liked it but said she would rather continue with co-op/CEC. The fact that most of her friends are at co-op and CEC play a part in it. As well as the fact that she would have to go back two years in math if she went to public school also plays a factor in it. So now I am researching high school graduation requirements and I bought this book that was recommended to me. She can quite possibly start working towards college credits while still in high school-especially in math.

This man works hard at his job and then comes home and works hard around the house. He was still painting the deck last night when I went to bed at 11:30pm. When he sets his mind to do something, he WILL do it. Now if I could just get him to set his mind to move... ha!

My day was spent driving my four not-so-little people around. From about 6:30am-7:30am and 11:30am-8pm I was literally a taxi driver. School runs, store, groomer, play dates, weightlifting, jiu jitsu, and wrestling... that is our Thursday.

Lucy and I had a fun date night last night. I took Julia a few years ago to the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular and we enjoyed it. This time Lucy wanted to go. It is beautiful. If I told you we waited in line for an hour just to get in and the. Paid way more than we should have for pumpkins, but that it was 100% worth it, you’d think I was crazy. It really is worth it. People we talked to in line came from Knoxville, Iowa, and Mississippi just to see this. What!?!

Pictures don’t do it justice

October 23

In addition to all the regular craziness of Tuesday, we joined friends from Lucy’s history class at co-op for an archaeology field trip.

October 22

Lucy’s Flying Creatures class mapped birds.

Now that volleyball is over, Julia’s back to piano lessons.

After Jiu Jitsu, Elliott also had wrestling.

Julia also started back to CrossFit, although it’s now strength and conditioning. She said her arms felt like mush!

So that was my Monday: co-op, chauffeuring the kids to, activities, make dinner/clean up, and get ready for today. Monday is just a warm-up for the busyness that is Tuesday. Doh!
