Four hours of trying to replace Lucy’s phone screen resulted in a home button that wouldn’t work. When Clay tried to fix that, he broke a cable for the speaker. So… we recommend paying $100 to get phone repaired at a business. Ugh! Lesson learned.

Gus was not impressed with Lucy’s presentation on Ole Faithful.
Lucy and I spent a few hours at the zoo yesterday afternoon. They have a fun scavenger hunt where you have to find things and answer questions. We had to leave and pick up the kids from school before we could finish.

Elliott and Lucy needed some comfortable walking shoes before we go to DC.
I didn’t realize how large Elliott’s foot looks next to Lucy’s! His feet are bigger than mine now.
Elliott had baseball practice last night. He has the same coach that he had for fall ball, plus 3 teammates from fall ball. But he has moved up to the 13-15 league.
These three played school for hours last night.

The kids in my history class learned about the 1960s this week, so I brought in old newspapers that Mamaw Pat had saved to show them the papers when astronauts landed on the moon in 1969. We listened to Vietnam War music too. It was pretty awesome. Did you know that bacon cost $.39 in 1969!?!

After church, we celebrated Mamaw Pat’s birthday
Clay hung up the bookshelves that Elliott made for Kat. She wanted bookshelves and he needed a project for woodworking. I may have coerced him with some money. In the end, she got what she wanted and he had a project to work on. Winner winner chicken dinner!
Lucy spent the night with Mamaw and Bapaw last night. Clay and I watched the movie “Schindler’s List” with the teens. We are visiting the Holocaust Museum in DC soon and wanted them to see why it’s important to remember the Holocaust and what people went through.

The three amigos
After helping with cleanup at the baseball fields yesterday morning, Nadia and Bryson came to our house for the afternoon. I may have had to run a load of laundry.

The boys watching the KY basketball game. Gus was Elliott’s emotional support.
Lucy finished her tundra biome and practiced her presentation.
Kat stayed home from church because she threw up in the wee hours. So far, everyone else is healthy. I know several families who have had a stomach bug in the last week, so it’s definitely going around.
Clay got our taxes done. After being gone most of Saturday, I got caught up on laundry, groceries, dinner prep for tonight, etc. Being gone one day puts me behind! Crazy way to start the week!

Julia and I went to Merit orientation at UK yesterday. They invited around 430 high-achieving incoming freshmen to attend. The benefit of working hard in high school is that she was invited to early orientation, so she got to register for fall classes already. She will be one of the few freshmen who doesn’t get stuck with an 8am class. I am so excited for her!
