Julia & Alayna playing dress-up

It's hard to believe that it's already the last day of April... where have the days gone!?!

This morning Mommy and the girls went to a friends' house to play. Julia and Alayna are good buddies from church. Julia talks about Alayna a lot!

Tonight we had Mission Friends at church. Daddy went to the driving range after work to practice hitting golf balls. He has a golf scramble with some co-workers tomorrow and he hasn't played in about 3+ years (since the kids were born).

Happy Birthday Poppa Stu!

Kat & Anna playing

This morning we stayed at home and watched a movie and played. Then we went to Toys R' Us and bought a sandbox. Mommy's home project for this week is to get rid of the pond in our backyard and to put the sandbox in its place. Tonight Mommy & Daddy had a meeting with a Financial Advisor (fun for Daddy, not so much for Mommy) to talk about investing money. Afterwards, Mommy's went shopping for a dress for a wedding we're going to in June (it reaffirmed her dislike of clothes shopping for herself - for the girls is much more fun!).

April 28

Yesterday after naps, we took the girls to Churchill Downs for a couple of hours before we went to Bible study. They really liked the horses, but when given an opportunity to touch one, they were too afraid.

Today we hung out at home and didn't do much of anything - a nice change of pace from this last week. Mommy cleaned the house and then we went outside to play for a little before the rain started this afternoon. Mommy dug up some more dandelions and Julia dug for worms. We also watched Enchanted for the umpteenth time. Both girls (and Mommy) took nice long naps.

April 27

Late yesterday afternoon Mommy and the girls went to the hot air balloon race with Mamaw and Bapaw. There were around 45 balloons and most of them went up right over us, so that was neat. Julia was scared of them and cried to go home almost the entire time. Kat was indifferent to them. At least Daddy got a few hours to stay home and rest.

She's really not enjoying it!

Today we are going to church and tonight we have small group Bible study. The rest of the day we will take it easy and rest. Yesterday was a busy day.

April 26

This morning Daddy ran the Mini Marathon (13.1 miles) in 1:53:55 (which is about 8 minutes, 40 seconds a mile). He finished 1850th overall out of 12000 runners - Go Daddy! We watched the race with Mamaw, Bapaw, Bob, & Jessica. Julia was really into counting the runner's belly buttons (some of the guys weren't wearing shirts).

April 25

Last night we met Daddy at the Library for a story time themed "Up, Up, & Away!". We went to a park afterwards and played on the playground.

This morning Mommy cleaned out the fridge and changed out a battery in one of the smoke detectors (she checked them earlier this week and one didn't work - yikes!). Sad, but this is the first time they've been checked in almost 2 years! Then we went to the grocery store. When we got home, the girls helped Mommy plant a few flowers and then we had friends come over and play until naptime.

Tonight Mamaw Pat kept the girls so Mommy & Daddy can get up early tomorrow morning to get to the Mini Marathon - go Daddy! We went downtown and picked up Daddy's racing packet and then went to eat at Ray Perella's so Daddy could load up on pasta for the big race. We rarely try new restaurants, but this one is really good. We got to eat outside on the front patio and people watch on Frankfort Ave (a really quaint area of town that's full of people on a Friday night). The food was delicious!

Where's Kat? She loves to lay on her bed and play

Mommy asked Julia to get her shoes on this morning so we could run errands & this is how she reappeared! She was so cute, Mommy didn't have the heart to tell her to change. Silly girl!

This morning Mommy and the girls took Daddy's car to Uncle Joe's work to get the oil changed. Then we went to Target and bought Julia new summer play clothes. We spent about 30 minutes playing in the toy section (see video). Then we came home and played outside. Mommy & Kat spent about 20-30 minutes digging up dandelions. Kat had a great time pulling up the dandelions & blowing on the white fuzzy ones. Mommy learned an important lesson: use work gloves when digging in the yard (she's got a quarter-size blister in her right palm that has opened up - ouch!).

Another cute story: Julia got a letter in the mail from her Sunday School teachers yesterday. Mommy gave it to her and she has carried it with her all day. She showed it to Uncle Joe and to the cashier at Target. She's so proud of her mail. She keeps taking it in and out of the envelope. Sad thing is, she's been getting one every week since August, but she thinks this is the first one (thanks for giving Mommy the idea Mrs. Angela!).

April 23

Julia's Play-Doh mustache & Kat's thinking face

Mommy babysat Jonathan T today. We decided to go to the zoo. Yes, again! It was so hectic yesterday with all the people (we went with Mom's Group) that we didn't really get the chance to enjoy it or take our time looking at the animals. Julia especially likes to look at the snakes (I'll bet you're excited to go to the zoo with Julia, huh Nonna!?!) and we didn't stay in the Herpequarium long yesterday because it was too crowded with kids on a field trip. However, she said the spiders were her favorite today (sorry Mamaw Pat!). Kat didn't ride in the stroller much and she did a good job staying with us for the most part! It got really hot today, so afterwards we went to Dairy Queen for ice cream. Each kid got their own cone - even Kat. She is the world's messiest eater, but she is so clean with ice cream. Go figure! And she said a new word today: cone. She would take a lick, say cone, take a lick, say cone, etc. She also now says "done" when she's ready to get down from the table. Tonight we have Mission Friends at church.

Mommy loves our yard this time of year. Things keep blooming up through the middle of May. The previous owners planted it all and Mommy just tries not to kill it! We don't even know what most of the plants' are (heck, some are probably weeds!)!
