April 30

Clay and Elliott drive to Indianapolis last night for a baseball tournament. Clay got one of his favorite Mexican restaurants for dinner, so he was a happy camper.

April 28

After the dentist (no cavities, yay!), Elliott, Lucy, and I picked up this dresser and a matching night stand. Lucy and I are going to paint this once school is out for summer.

This boy has already driven over 10% of the required hours of driving for his permit.

JV had a double header last night. Elliott played third base most of both games, but pitched at the end of the second game. He had several decent hits too. JV won both games 5-3 and 10-4.

April 27

Elliott and I joined Clay walking about 13 holes of golf. Clay did all 18. Elliott hit on a couple of holes, but for the most part we just walked the course with him. We found about 20 golf balls in the process.

April 26

I took Elliott, Bryson, and Zane to a UK baseball game. It got chilly towards the end of the game. The crowd was rowdy and it was a lot of fun.

We didn’t get to see Julia this trip as she had plans.

Clay and Lucy went to Target. She picked out goofy outfits for him to try on and he obliged.

April 25

The azaleas are pretty right now.

When you drive an hour to play baseball and the games are cancelled as soon as you pull in the parking lot, you join teammates for dinner. Oh well. Elliott got 2 more hours of driving under his belt.

April 24

While the kids were at school yesterday, I did my friend’s laundry…

I also prepped/restocked the “salad bar” with hard-boiled eggs, chopped romaine, carrots, broccoli, cucumbers, etc. This has come in handy during baseball season when I am not home to prep dinner. I pack Elliott and my food for the games and there are healthy options for those staying home. Although I am pretty sure Clay eats out most evenings if I am at a game.

Further proof that I am old- a new toaster is exciting!

After school, Lucy had CrossFit. Then we went to church. Only two weeks left of youth group/nursery and two weeks left of school. All of a sudden we are almost done!

Elliott drove us from CrossFit to church during rush hour and did great. He seems to be a natural at it.

April 23

Elliott did a little bit of everything last night in his Varsity and JV games:

He had a couple of really good stops/catches/plays as a third baseman. He played third for both Varsity and JV.

He hit the ball pretty well too…

He pitched the last inning of the JV game and struck out two batters.

Varsity lost 6-1, but JV won 9-1. The JV team is promising.

April 22

Elliott passed his written driving test, so he now has a permit. Lexington was the closest appointment we could get. He drove us home! He seems to be natural at driving.

The Varsity team played one of the best teams in the state last night. They won the state championship last year. We held our own, but lost 10-7. It was a good game (probably the best we’ve played all season). Elliott didn’t play much, so I didn’t take any pics.

April 21

The Easter bunny came! Our bunny now has to come early in the morning because mom and dad go to bed before the kids. Ha!

All four of our kids in church with us made for a wonderful Easter.

The saga continues… Clay decided as everyone was arriving for Easter, that the sun shade needed to be put up.

We had one egg hunt for the kids…

Then the kids hid eggs for an adult egg hunt.

We celebrated Mamaw’s birthday

April 20

What do you do when you are hosting family for Easter?

Do you repair cars?

Do you take apart the PlayStation to clean it? No?

Clay actually teased me for vacuuming!

Lucy and I filled eggs with candy.

Elijah enjoyed his cake. Can’t believe he is 12!?!

April 19

Elijah turns 12 on Easter. He told Tracy that he wanted me to make him an Easter-themed cake. It isn’t the prettiest, but it was made with love.

Finally home in the evening and it was finally warm enough and not raining, so we cleaned up the grill and put it to use.

Woohoo! All of a sudden the school year is almost over! The countdown has begun.

I got Lucy’s syllabi done for next school year for US History and Physical Science. Everything else she will take at school. I love to make syllabi! It’s weird, I know.

Clay and Kat went to WKU’s orientation yesterday. She got registered for classes. In the meantime, she is subleasing a room in a house full of college-aged girls for the summer. It seems like a good situation for her (and us). Young adults living at home is HARD. I 100% do not recommend.

Julia is coming home today! We love young adults coming home for visits! Ha!

April 18

Teenagers are participating in an ice bucket challenge to raise awareness for mental health. Lucy’s friend challenged her to do it. I was happy to help! Ha!

Elliott played third base for Varsity. They won! He caught for JV. They ended in a tie due to the time. We didn’t get home until after midnight!

We were short on people serving in the nursery last night, so Lucy helped out.

April 16

Last night was kind of a mess. Elliott was planning to miss his baseball games to go to orientation for work. I dropped him off at orientation, then headed to deliver laundry to my friend. On my drive, Elliott let me know that orientation was for 18 and older. The subsequent lifeguard training that he was planning to attend was also for 18 and older (due to the hours on school nights, it violates child labor laws on a school night). Doh! So… I headed back to pick him up from work. Mind you, this is all during rush hour and the traffic was awful. I picked him up, we went home, he changed into this baseball uniform, and then we drove across town to make it in time to watch the remainder of the varsity game. He played third base for the JV game and got a hit at his one at bat. The Varsity game ran long, so the JV game didn’t start until almost 9pm. There’s a rule that high school games can’t start a new inning after 9:30pm. So the game was called after a couple of innings. They won 6-0. Was it worth 3 hours of driving for a 40 minute baseball game? Probably not! It’s a good thing I don’t have a life!
