Happy Halloween!

Busy day. Julia had a Fall Party at school. Clay took the day off work to attend Kat's field trip to a local farm. It was Kat's first field trip ever and she was super excited!

Soon we're going to eat pizza and go trick-or-treating.

Ghost pancakes

We made these "Spirit Jugs" last year too. This year the girls gave each "ghost" a name (and some of the girl ghosts got eyelashes).

After dinner we carved and painted pumpkins. The girls also painted my belly.

October 28

Last night I babysat Brady and Caleb, and since Clay was working late, I had all 5 kiddos. I took them to the library for a Halloween party.

Cotton candy at 8pm... what a nutritious bedtime snack!

October 27

Last night we went to the church's Fall Festival. It had to be moved indoors because of rain. The kids had fun.

Ernie was the highlight of the evening for Elliott. He kept going up to Ernie and giving him High-five's, or asking "Where Ernie?"

They had a cake walk, which made for a happy Kat.

October 26

Monday night we went to Phil and Scottie's house so the men (big boys) could fly radio-controlled airplanes. Clay bought one and Elliott really seems to love watching him fly "airpanes".

I took Matthew and Elliott to story time today. It was a Halloween-themed story time, so here they are dancing the Monster Mash.

October 25

I saw this "Mumkin" on this blog and thought it was cute and easy, so I made my own. Now if I can just keep the mums alive for a few days! :P

October 24

I saw this "Eek" picture frame on this crafty website, and I thought it looked like a project for Kat and I to work on together. We worked on it throughout the weekend because there were several steps. I am going to frame a picture of the kiddos in their Halloween costumes.

October 23

We spent the majority of the day outside yesterday playing, raking up leaves, playing in the leaves, etc. Okay, so really Clay and the girls did the leaves. This pregnant Momma just can't bend over all that well these days - Shucks (insert sarcastic tone)!

October 22

Yesterday I dropped Elliott off with Tracy. I went to Hobby Lobby, Michael's, a doctor appt, and got a pedicure. It was a nice day.

I made this print using the same website/letters I used to make the blog title (Four Better or Four Worse). I used a picture frame and mat that I already had. I like the way it turned out and it cost me less than $10.

My friend Tracy made this monster hat for Elliott using a pattern from Family Fun. Isn't it cute!?! I have tried to upload this picture several different times and it keeps loading sideways.

Last night Clay took Julia out on a date, so Kat, Elliott, and I went to Wendy's for dinner and then hung out at home. This video was taken about an hour after they'd had a frosty. Can we say sugar buzz?

October 21

I am trying to encourage the girls to read by letting them use flashlights in bed. The lights were off in their room, but I guess with the flash on my camera, you can't tell. They really seemed to like this. I got the idea from a family I used to babysit many moons ago...

October 20

Do you like the changes I made to the blog? I found the letters for the blog title through one of my favorite sites for craft/home decorating projects. It was easy and fun. I am very happy with the results. What do you think?

28 weeks/7 months - woot! I am glad I have Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas to distract me until the baby is born. This pregnancy is going by fast! Keeping busy with 3 kids certainly helps. Soon we'll be moving Elliott into the girls' room and getting the baby's room ready.

October 19

Elliott went to bed last night at 6:30pm. He didn't eat dinner and he was running a slight fever. Poor little dude.

I have done a little decorating in the hall bathroom. Have I finished the practical stuff (like mounting the magazine rack, hand towel holder, or sanding and painting the trim around the mirror)? No. That stuff's no fun! Plus, I need Clay's help with that...

October 18

Elliott has a stomach bug. I should have realized he wasn't 100% yesterday when he let me do some shopping for 2 hours and was content in his stroller the whole time - that never happens! We skipped Wee Rock today and are just having a quiet day at home.

All you need is love - puppy love

October 17

No pictures. Here's an interesting story about how nuts my last 24 hours have been...

  • We drove across town yesterday to go to a park where there was a radio-controlled airplane show. Got there and it was cancelled because of high winds.
  • Called Clay's co-worker Sparky and invited ourselves over to his house (lives close to park) to see his chickens and horse.
  • Kids each got to ride on the horse, which was really neat (no pictures)
  • Clay is highly allergic to horses, so we give him a Benadryl and the kids wash their hands.
  • On drive home (at this point it's close to the kids' bedtime) we get stuck for an hour in traffic 3 miles from our house because of a car accident. The kids are playing and dancing in the van for entertainment, but this only stirs up all the horse dander/dirt in the van (it's all over their clothes), so Clay cannot breath out of his nose, his eyes are red and puffy, and he is miserable by the time we finally get home (way past the kids' bedtime).
  • We had to give everyone baths as soon as we got home to get all the horse dander out of the house, so the kids got to bed really late on a school night!
  • This morning I let the girls sleep in and drove them to school.
  • I forgot that my van was way past due (the light came on about 80 miles ago) on getting gas and didn't leave myself time this morning to get gas before dropping them off at school, so as we pulled into the school parking lot, my van died in the middle of a busy intersection. A police officer and the PE teacher (a woman) help push me over to a parking place.
  • Called Pat (my super sweet Mother-in-Law) to bring me some gas.
  • She calls a little while later to say that she has a gas can in her car, but she is on the interstate with a flat tire!
  • Uncle Joe fixes her flat for her and she brings me gas.
Thinking maybe I need to go back to bed and wake up on the right side of the bed!!!

October 15

Mamaw Pat joined us for an afternoon at Slow Poke Farm. We fed farm animals, went on a hayride, played in (and mostly on) a hay maze, did a corn maze, had a picnic, and picked pumpkins. We had beautiful Fall weather to top it off!
