While Bapaw was deer hunting, the girls and Mamaw had a girls' day making pies in "Mamaw's Pie Kitchen." They made 6 Derby pies. This is just a fraction of the pies Mamaw makes for the holiday season! Ha!
Elliott and Clay competed in their jiu jitsu tournament yesterday. It was my first time going to one of their competitions. I was nervous, but it was exciting too.
Elliott had a better day than Clay, winning all six of his matches (3 in the gi, 3 in no gi). The gi is their outfit, by the way. He was pretty dominant against the opponents in his weight class. It probably helps that at his practices, he's by far one of the smallest, so he practices against kids that weigh 10-60 pounds more than he does. He added 3 hatchets, 2 swords (wooden, thankfully), and 1 medal to his weaponry/trophies.
Clay had a rougher road. Getting his blue belt this week moved him to a harder level of competition, which proved to be tough. He got 2nd place in the no-gi division.
Elliott, waiting at the door for Nonna. He invited his grandparents, all on his own, to come to his competition. I thought that was sweet. Even sweeter? They drove three hours to come see the little guy compete.

This little guy has magical powers, and it's not just over me.
You have to look closely to tell which of those bald heads belongs to Clay. Ha!
Elliott really looks up to his coaches at the gym. I am glad he has good role models. They are nice guys.
