December 13

Happy Birthday Uncle Jordan!

Yesterday was our Random Acts of Kindness Day. It is one of my favorite Christmas activities that we do each year. I'd like to say that my children were 100% cooperative, no whining or complaining, no tantrums, and only being 100% selfless. Not quite. All in all it was fun, but we had to come home for a break halfway through the day. We had Elijah and Matthew tagging along for part of our day while their dad was getting his diploma (PhD) - go Joe!

Lucy and Julia leaving our neighbors' goodies.

My Kindness Team. Kat was thrilled to sit next to the boys.

We handed out candy canes to houses with Nativities. This was Kat and Lucy's favorite part of the day. Lucy said, "Baby Jesus so cute".

We made a quick stop at Krispy Kreme (it was 12/12, so they ran a deal where you bought a dozen, got a dozen free). We enjoyed a donut each and then took the second dozen to our Pediatrician's office to say thanks for taking care of the rugrats. Julia said that giving the donuts to the Pediatrician's office was her favorite activity.

Krispy Kreme led to our demise. About an hour and a half after we ate donuts, the kids had a sugar crash. That is when we headed home and everyone (including Mommy) took a rest time. It was either that or the 3 year-old might possibly not have survived the day. Or the 5 year-old. Or the 8 or 9 year-olds.

After our break, we headed to the library to hide bookmarks in the kids' Christmas book section. We also handed a man a McDonald's gift card.

We used up our remaining candy canes on car door handles at the grocery store parking lot.

And we loaded up these machines with quarters. This was the one act of kindness that the kids requested we do.

After all that, Elliott said his favorite thing we did all day was to watch the movie "Polar Express". Ugh!
