September 22

We had fun celebrating Abbie's 8th birthday yesterday.

Then it was time to come home and prep for Kat's birthday party later today. 13. What the what!?!

September 21

When Mom drags you along for a 2 1/2 hour co-op leadership meeting, you get slushies as a treat afterwards. It's really not that bad for them. There are about 10 other kids there for them to hang out with.

And apparently the smaller people are dressed for the weather. My teen/preteen like to wear jeans and hoodies- even though it's 90 degrees outside. Ugh!

September 20

 We love our Gus Gus.

Lucy and I are reading Farmer Boy for one of her co-op classes. In the book, Almanzo talks about how you can fill a cup to the brim with milk, and an another cup the same size with popcorn. Then you can put the popcorn, one kernel at a time, into the milk and none of the milk will spill. We just had to try it. It worked!

I took my nearly 13 year-old to the store last night to get food and supplies for her birthday party. While there, Kat got to buy some mascara and lipstick. How do I already almost have two teens!?!

September 19

Elliott, Lucy, and I went on a field trip yesterday at a music store. The teachers played several different instruments and talked to the kids about percussion, strings, brass, and woodwind instruments. Then the kids got to try out some of the instruments.

September 17

Happy 42nd Anniversary Mamaw and Bapaw!
Happy 8th Anniversary Joe and Nikole!

Lucy's Story of the World co-op class learned about Joseph and the Israelites this week - so they made coats of many colors. Wonder if they were Technicolor!?!

In Flying Creatures, we learned about life cycles, defenses, and social insects (mostly bees, wasps, and ants). The bottom right picture is the bee dance (flight pattern) a scout bee shows to the gatherer bees to let them know the distance of the flowers they need to find.

Kat's General Science class did an experiment on surface tension.

My anatomy class is studying the skeletal system. I had them make spinal columns out of pipe cleaners, beads, and straws to show the flexibility our vertebrae give us. They did this while their index fingers and thumbs were taped together to show them how important even their smallest bones are.

Julia had a volleyball game last night. They didn't win. She made a couple of mistakes, but she also had a couple of really good plays and she got a decent amount of playing time. She's one of the few that hustles for the ball.

September 16

The kids and I had fun celebrating Leanna's 13th birthday with her at KY Kingdom yesterday. We sure do love that girl!

Clay was supposed to go with us, but his van wasn't acting right. He spent 12 hours at home replacing spark plugs, etc. to fix it.

September 15

Mamaw and Bapaw took Elliott out for his birthday yesterday. They ate Pizza King, went to the driving range, played putt putt, got ice cream, etc. He had a great time!
Mamaw and Bapaw, Clay wants a day out with you for his birthday.

Julia and Kat went to a movie night at Shannon's house with their Bible study girls. Afterwards, they spent the night there to celebrate Leanna's birthday. Amelia came to our house to spend the night with Lucy.

September 14

Julia and her friend Makayla came home after school and hung out before going to their Homecoming dance at school. They met up with a few other friends at the dance. They said it was fun, but not as fun as the movies make high school dances look.

Earlier in the day, Elliott, Lucy, and I joined a few friends on a field trip to an 18th century reenactment camp.

Elliott got to help the blacksmith pump the air onto the fire.

Lucy wasn't too sure about the cannon.

This Shawnee was a good story teller. He was Elliott's favorite part of the day.

September 13

This week has been Spirit Week at Julia's school, leading up to Homecoming tonight. I snuck this picture off her phone of Twin Day.

Lucy wanted to join me for running errands last night. We, of course, had Taco Bell for dinner.

 Mums make me happy.
