January 9

Clay took Kat and Elliott to a Lego Brick Universe event yesterday at the fairgrounds. They got to see all sorts of neat Lego builds and then had time to play with Legos too.

We had the H boys at our house yesterday afternoon. This is the only picture I got of all of the kids sitting still.

Today is our first day back at co-op. I have bumped Lucy up to the kindergarten classes. Here's what the kids are taking this semester:
  • Lucy: Magic Schoolbus science, phonics, music, and fine/gross motor skills
  • Elliott: writing (9 weeks) then PE (6 weeks), States & Stories (learning about the 50 states), literature, and astronomy
  • Kat & Julia: chemistry/physics, writing/literature, Latin roots (9 weeks) & PE (6 weeks), art

Happy Birthday Uncle Joe!
 Happy 12th Birthday Julia !

I had fun looking back through all Julia's past birthday celebrations. Today, after gymnastics, Clay and I are taking her out for pancakes and shopping. It's been a long time since the two of us spent time with her all by herself.

1st birthday. She threw up later that night. Lesson learned for future babies- not too much icing on the 1st birthday!

2nd birthday. I had a friend make this cake because I had 2 children under the age of 2. Kat was 3 months old. We were in survival mode.

3rd birthday. Julia loved Cinderella.

4th birthday. Julia was very shy when everyone sang to her and when she opened her presents.

5th birthday. She got to have friends come to her Fancy Nancy party.

6th birthday was celebrated with Uncle Joe.

Julia chose a makeover for her 7th birthday. I am glad she didn't stick with this look. Love the smile with teeth missing.

8th birthday. We stayed home and kept it simple because Kat had strep throat. Julia decorated her own Ninja Turtle cupcakes.

We had a tea party for her 9th birthday.

She and Clay made her 10th birthday Minecraft cake.

She made her own Golden Snitch cake for her 11th birthday. We had fun celebrating with her friends.

And now this little stinker is 12. She is a great human being and we are beyond proud to be her parents. She is smart, strong, loving, nurturing, and helpful. Can't wait to see where her future takes her.

January 6

As part of their computer class, the girls each created blogs. Click here for Kat's, and here for Julia's. They should be adding to them at least weekly.

The kids had fun playing in the snow yesterday.

January 5

Big news in our family! Kat asked Jesus into her heart this morning while she was doing her morning devotional.

Nonna got Lucy Disney on Ice tickets for a Christmas present. I showed Lucy some Disney on Ice youtube videos so she would know what to expect. She spent awhile yesterday pretending to be in Disney on Ice.

Today after schoolwork was complete, the kids built the Tower of Babel out of clay and toothpicks.

January 4

Clay has been telling me for a year that I need to try a class at the mixed marital arts gym where he, Elliott, and Lucy take jiu jitsu. I told him at dinner that if he ate all his mixed vegetables, I would take a boxing class. He did and I did. It was actually fun, but I have honestly never been so sore in my life! I have given birth to four children and was able to walk around pretty easily after that. Every muscle in my body aches today!

January 3

Mamaw and Bapaw got Julia this pancake mix for Christmas. It's the one she had in Gatlinburg that she loved so much. I attempted to make them earlier this week and they flopped. Tasted good, but didn't look good. Clay attempted them yesterday, after researching on the internet how to make the huge pancakes. He got it figured out! Now, if we can figure out a way to make more than 1 pancake at a time (they take 10 minutes each), so I am not cooking them for an hour just to give each person a pancake. Ha!

Clay was off work all day yesterday, so we all enjoyed one last day of Christmas break. Today, we are back on our normal routine with piano lessons, schoolwork, gymnastics, and jiu jitsu.

After church, we swapped kids with friends, so Julia, Kat, and Elliott spent the day with their buddies.

January 1

Happy New Year! We spent the day at home playing games. I stayed in pajamas all day and snuck in two cat naps. Since we have church this morning, we ended our festivities around 9:30 last night. We  rung in the new year asleep.

December 31

While Julia had gymnastics yesterday, I took Kat, Elliott, and Lucy to a nearby gym to burn off some energy for a couple of hours.
