May 20

Here are some more pictures from our weekend:

Playing catch with Nonna Saturday night. And yes, Julia is outside in her pajamas.

 Lucy was watching from inside.

We needed some ice cream. Problem solved.

Yesterday in church, Clay and I were the teachers for Elliott's Sunday School class. It was fun seeing him a room full of other kids his age.

It got pretty hot outside yesterday - near 90 degrees. The neighbors came over and the kids played with water guns and played in the sprinkler. As you can see, Lucy didn't like the sprinkler very much.

 Happy 12 Anniversary to us!

How would you spend your romantic anniversary weekend? Clay and I (Julia too) participated in a mud run called The Stampede. You run/walk a 5k race and throughout it are 20+ obstacles that you climb, crawl through/under, etc that are designed to get you muddy. It was alot of fun - I felt like a kid again! I highly recommend doing this with your family. Such fun memories!

This is our "Before" photo. Renee and Clint (a couple from our church) also participated.

Julia and Clay almost at the finish line.

I am bringing up the rear.

Julia is one tough girl. She did all the obstacles with very minimal help and didn't complain once. She was awesome!

Whooped! Oh, and my lovely husband smeared mud all over my face after we were done. Most women pay big money for a mud mask at a spa. Not me!

"After" photo - our socks used to be white.

Michelle and Nicole came over yesterday to do some more Little House activities. First we made houses out of craft sticks. Then we carved soap (safer than carving wood like Pa). And, of course, we watched an episode of Little House on the Prairie.

Nonna arrived yesterday afternoon to hang out with us for the weekend.

Clay took yesterday off work and we participated in Field Day (races, obstacle courses, relay races, etc) with other homeschoolers from church. After a couple of events, we had to take a break and let a thunderstorm pass through. Then we went back to our races and had a wet, muddy, fabulous time.

 All the participants

Elliott was not happy to be at field day, which surprised us. Once he got put in his group, he did fine.

Run Julia run!

 2nd grade girls

Time for a break. There was a 0% chance of rain during the hours we were having Field Day. Do  Meteorologists just guess the weather and hope they are right?

Kat and Clay participated in the back-ball relay race.

The kids and all their ribbons.

Last night Kat got to go on a date with Clay. They went to the movies and had a great time.

Helping Daddy cut the grass (I just noticed Gus is also in this picture).

And if you noticed, our grass was extremely high (about a foot tall). We were trying to see if we could make our house the little house on the prairie. Teasing. But seriously, I thought the neighbors might come out and applaud us for cutting the grass.

We went over to Papaw G's house this morning and helped him get his garden started. We had a fun morning, but only about 1/3rd of the garden got planted. I am pretty certain that if we were pioneers, we would starve.

Papaw and Lucy were supervising while we tilled.

Julia and Aunt Susie planting a few flowers.

The kids breaking up the dirt. Mostly they were looking for worms to put in their worm bucket (to be used later when they go fishing at the lake). Catching worms was the highlight of their day.

She's just too stinkin' cute.

Planting cucumbers. At this point, Kat said "ooh gross" when Susie told her to push the dirt around the plant. Keep in mind, she had no problems digging through dirt and picking up worms. Goofy kid.

Planting radish seeds.

Update:  Lucy has an ear infection. She started on antibiotic today, so she should be feeling good as new in no time!

Original Post:

While Lucy was napping yesterday, the kids and I came up with our Summer Bucket List. Should be a fun summer!

May 13

Lucy woke up from a really long afternoon nap today with a low-grade fever. She's been a a little grumpy for a couple of days. She threw up a few times. Ear infection? I know she is cutting a molar. It would be nice if she could talk and tell me what was wrong. On the upside, I got lots of Lucy snuggles.

Rockin' some awesome bedhead!

Happy Mother's Day!

Our Mother's Day pictures didn't going very well this morning. Julia had just elbowed Kat in the stomach, so she was crying (and crying and crying... a little dramatic). After several shots that didn't work, we decided to make funny faces instead. Well, everyone but Kat.

After church, Clay's side of the family came over for lunch. Bapaw Rick supplied the food, so the Mamas didn't have to do any cooking for Mother's Day. Clay cleaned everything up afterwards - yay!

After everyone left, I took a nap. Yay again!

While I was napping, Julia and Kat decorated the family room for me.

This was my favorite Mother's Day gift (not Kat's tooth coming out). Our church is collecting donations for Necole's Place. On her own, Kat made wooden crosses out of popsicle sticks and is now selling them so she can donate the money to Necole's Place. She has also decided that she wants to give her Tooth Fairy Money to Necole's Place too. This girl is extremely strong-willed and wears me out pretty regularly. But she does have a huge, tender heart and I am so proud of her selflessness.
