We are officially on Christmas Break! I did some rearranging in the school area to make room for the LEGO table.
A friend recommended a kids art site on You Tube that offered tutorials. Lucy’s first attempt was Elsa. I am pretty impressed!
Clay decorated the house with lights for my Christmas present. ❤️ The lights make me happy.
I need to brag on Julia and Kat. Both started new schools this year and both have excelled. Kat got an A+ in her English class and has a solid A (one of the few in her class) in Algebra 2. Keep in mind that she is the only middle schooler in Algebra 2 (high school class). She also did well in her co-op classes, but they don’t give grades.
Julia made the transition to public school about as seamlessly as possible. She got all As on her midterm exams and on her report card. Her teachers and her guidance counselor have already noticed her as a standout student.
- Her geometry teacher has sent an email and called me this semester to brag on her and ask if she can give Julia more challenging work (Julia has a 102% in that class).
- Her art teacher is entering her fiber art project in a competition later this winter and has asked Julia if she plans to major in art in college (she doesn’t).
- Because of her grades and because she is a math peer tutor, her guidance counselor has his eye on her for a program called Governor’s Scholars (the brightest students from across the state attend this between 11th and 12th grades).
- Her PE teacher is also in charge of a group called Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which Julia is a member of. She asked for Julia’s phone number because she wants her to take a leadership role in that group in the coming years.
