November 17

Kat and Elliott stayed after school yesterday for FCA.

I am constantly making lists on Post-It notes for myself. Apparently Lucy thinks it is a good idea. She made her own note and stuck it by my weekly calendar.

November 15

Julia, Lucy, and Raymond made 11 pies with Mamaw Pat on Saturday. 11! Mamaw said they worked hard.

Clay and I needed a date night. We have decided date nights were easier when the kids are little. Now that they are big kids, we are easy too busy shuffling them around or we are worried they will kill each other while we’re gone. I got two phone calls as soon as we pulled into the restaurant parking lot. *sigh

November 14

Elliott had his first middle school wrestling meet yesterday. He had four matches total. He won the first three and had to face his teammate in the championship round, where he lost. We left the house at 7am and got home about 7pm. Long day!

November 13

We grabbed Tracy, Matthew, and Elijah and headed to the Newport Aquarium and the National Underground Railroad Museum in Cincinnati.

Feeding and touching the stingrays was a highlight.

Boys had to have their pictures taken on big balls.

November 12

‘Tis the season for school projects!

Lucy is giving a speech on a famous Kentuckian for her KY History class at co-op. She chose Stephen Foster from a list her teacher gave the class. Fun fact we learned about Stephen Foster: he never actually lived in KY. He visited his cousins who lived at Federal Hill (the name of the house that inspired My Old KY Home).

Elliott had to make an autobiography Power Point presentation for his computer class. This is in addition to a lab he had to complete for the class.

In addition to his regular science homework, Elliott also had to do a project on plant products. He chose soybeans. We were surprised at the number of products that can be made from soybeans.

Lucy plays chess for part of her schoolwork. Since Clay was home for Veterans Day, she got to play a him.

November 11

Enjoying the beautiful warm November weather while doing schoolwork.

Julia made this stained glass picture in her Humanities class out of cardstock and tissue paper! I am impressed!

Last night at Bible Drills and Skills (or Skills and Drills?) the girls played a couple of games. The first one was that they had to find the paper with the correct number on it and touch it first. For example, Shannon would ask how many books are in the Old Testament, the books of History, etc. The second game was a drill. She would call out a book from the Bible and the girls had to find it as quickly as they could.

November 10

Everyone survived! This doesn’t include Julia’s activities since she can drive herself. Kids driving themselves is the best thing ever!

Kat played a fun review game in her logic class at co-op.

November 9

Lucy took her first quiz in anatomy yesterday. It was her first time having to study for a test and take it in a classroom setting. She did great!

After co-op on Mondays, Elliott goes to jiu jitsu and then wrestling.

Yesterday was busy, busy, busy. I can’t even remember what all I did, but I went non-stop from 6:30am until 9:30pm. Kids were fed, educated, and went to extra-curriculars. I scheduled schoolwork for the week, prepped for next week’s co-op classes, went to the grocery store, and organized everything for today (which is an even busier day). Mondays and Tuesdays are alot. Alot. Alot.

November 8

Julia and I volunteered in the nursery at church last night. Do you see how dark it is outside at 6pm? That is my least favorite thing about this time of year.  Second least favorite thing? All the tiny pieces of leaves that are brought into my house by kids and then embedded into the Berber carpet.

Speaking of Fall, I may have forgotten to mention to the teens that they needed to set their clocks back an hour Saturday night. They were both up extra early for church. Oops!
