November 16

Clay and I had a date night last night! Mamaw and Bapaw took the kids to the rodeo. We enjoyed a nice dinner and then went to a dessert cafe. Then we went to the movie theatre and bought popcorn, rented a movie, and came home and watched a movie on our couch in our pajamas. It was great! It’s been a crazy couple of months of going non-stop (I am taking one or two kids here and he has the others somewhere else). It’s nice to have time alone. I still like him after 22 years! 😘🙃

We did have to run into Wal-Mart for a minute to get something. While there, I stocked up on supplies for our co-op Christmas party in a little over two weeks. How has 2019 come and (almost) gone so quickly!?!

November 15

We had 4H Club yesterday. Some of the ladies from the 4H Homemakers club came and did crafts with the kids. Elliott was dreading this meeting because he doesn’t like crafts. He actually really enjoyed this. So much so, that he asked to make a second one! Using the glue gun might have had something to do with it.

November 14

Lucy asked me if she could make herself eggs for breakfast. She did great!

My third grade AWANA girls had fun making a craft.

November 13

We woke up to cold temperatures and a bit of snow. Believe it or not, Elliott and Lucy played in this. Last year we didn’t get much snow at all, so they are going to take any and every opportunity they can to throw snow at each other.

November 12

We got a new tree yesterday. Hopefully in the next few years we can enjoy shade on our front porch again.

The temps were near 60 degrees in the morning, but dropped quickly all day. By 7pm it was in the 30s. The high today is in the 20s. Winter weather is here!

At co-op, Lucy’s Flying Creatures class learned about different types of nests and also pretended to be emperor penguins keeping their eggs warm. Kat’s General Science class learned about casts, molds, fossils, etc.

Clay took Julia to piano lessons and had planned to take Elliott to jiu jitsu and wrestling. They got caught in bad traffic coming home from piano, so I made the jiu jitsu and wrestling run. We got caught in terrible traffic and were 30 minutes late to wrestling. When snow is mentioned here, people lose their minds. And also, they can’t drive in the rain, which causes accidents, which causes us problems getting to our sports. Anyways, I ended up staying at wrestling until it was over, then drove Elliott home, heated us up a quick dinner, scarfed it down, then drove Julia to volleyball.

She had a game at 9:15pm. Keep in mind that she went to bed, voluntarily, at 8:15pm Sunday night. Driving to the game at 8:30pm wasn’t too bad though because the snow had started and there wasn’t much traffic. The best part? Her team won! This is just a recreational league at a Catholic Church nearby. She has fun teammates that cheer for each other and a coach that knows nothing about volleyball, but is a great encouragement to the team. It’s a much better, more fun environment than she had with her school team this season.

November 11

Elliott got third place at his wrestling meet yesterday. He’s doing great for someone who has only wrestled for a month. He still has a lot to learn about wrestling, so I would say he’s mostly relying on his strength and his jiu jitsu background. He’s really enjoying it.

The bathtub wouldn’t drain, so Clay got some tools out and started pulling long hair out of the drain. This isn’t half of what he pulled out! 🤮

November 10

After church, Lucy went home with Amelia. They had fun cooking in the Easy Bake Oven and decoration g plastic cups for a tea party. The little turkey told Shannon that I never let her do fun stuff at our house.

I brought Leanna and Bethany home from church. Kat’s friend Jeweliannah also joined us. It was fun having five teens in the house.

The boys spent the day at another wrestling meet. Elliott did great! He lost his first match by points, pinned his next three opponents, then got pinned in his fifth and final match. Clay said he looked really good, but was tired by the fifth match. Not bad for his second wrestling meet!

November 9

For Matthew’s 10th birthday present, we took him geocaching. Our goal was 10 geocaches for his 10 years. Boys are funny. Everything is a competition. Who can run from point A to B the fastest? In this picture, they decided to see who could drink their drinks the fastest.

Look closely at that cache-yuck! The hint was that it was an “unused muggle deterrent”.

Love these boys

November 8

Clay worked from 3pm-midnight Wednesday and last night, so we had lunch with him yesterday. I snuck this picture of the two of them cutting up.

Elliott had kickboxing and then wrestling last night. He loves exercise! His wrestling coach told all the other wrestlers during conditioning that they were all lazy-except Elliott. Give the boy all the burpees!

November 7

Kat is taking care of a couple of cats for the next few days.
