June 20

Kat and I had a date night last night. We went to Orange Leaf for ice cream, Half-Priced books, and then a coffee shop where we got a snack and read a chapter of her new Nancy Drew book.

June 19

Hulk's 5th birthday party is tomorrow, so I am spending the day making his cake (it's supposed to be Captain America's shield-the star is wonky), and getting things ready. It's his first party, so he's a wee bit excited.

Today was Kat's last day of basketball camp. Her team won the 5x5 competition for 3rd/4th graders.

June 17

Kat had basketball camp again today (she's in the orange shirt).

The boys (and Lucy) had rest time today. The three of them are tired from being on the go so much lately. Lucy fell asleep. The boys were really quiet and were supposed to be sitting/lying on their own beds looking at books. I found them both on Hulk's bed looking at books together. It was sweet, so I let them be. These two are good buddies... some days.

Julia had a friend over today. Kat spent the afternoon at a friend's house.

Clay has had an interesting 24 hours. My bonehead... I mean, husband...dislocated his right shoulder at ju jitsu last night. This is the shoulder that has dislocated many times (but before last night, he was always able to put the ball back in the socket) and he had surgery on it 18 years ago. He spent the day being seen by an orthopedic and getting an MRI. He will know the results in about 10 days. He is hoping he won't have to have surgery on it again. Does he plan to give up ju jitsu? Nope. He's nuts... and STUBBORN!

This morning, after dropping Kat off at basketball camp, I took the kids to see a movie (Dolphin Tale 2). During the summer, the theaters in town play last year's kids movies for $1 per person. So I paid for 5 admissions plus a popcorn and only paid about $11. Not too bad.

We spent lunchtime with Tracy and the boys before heading to the girls' piano lessons.

I bought this swimming pool yesterday at Aldi (I LOVE that store) for $24. Cheap summer fun!

June 14

We have had a whirlwind weekend. Friday evening, after a few hours at Kentucky Kingdom, Julia went to gymnastics for 2 1/2 hours before joining Kat and other friends at a birthday slumber party. Saturday morning the boys had t-ball, then we picked the girls up from their slumber party and headed to the lake with our friends. We just got home with 5 tired kids and 2 tired parents. We had alot of fun.

Elliott lost his first tooth! When I was tucking him at bedtime tonight, he was really worried the Tooth Fairy would kiss him.

June 13

I wish this little lady had a little more personality.

Mamaw and Bapaw babysat Julia, Kat, Elliott, and Lucy so I could get our van checked out by a mechanic. They spent a few hours at KY Kingdom playing in the water park. Hulk and I spent three hours at the mechanic only to learn it was an easy fix (yay!). Hulk was awesome at the mechanic. As a reward, I took him to Chuck-E-Cheese. He had heard the kids talk about it and seen commercials, but had never been to it. His eyes were huge when we walked in. He had a great time. When we left, he gave me a full body hug (wrapped his arms and legs around me) and said, "Thank you for bringing me here!" It was alot of fun. We also spent some time shopping for his birthday party supplies.

Hulk was so excited to meet the real Chuck-E-Cheese.

June 12

Last day of VBS is done!

Tracy leading 5th grade Bible study.

Elliott (looking so excited) in the worship rally.

 More worship rally.

The boys raised more money than the girls for the mission project (buying medical and school supplies for a people group in Kenya), so Mrs Marsha took a pie to the face. The kids loved this.

Isaac is our worship leader and was also the 5th grade music leader. Everyone loves Isaac!

 Kat in craft time.

June 11

Day 3 of VBS is in the books. The kids are really sad that today is the last day of VBS. I have enjoyed it, but my kids are cranky and not the most pleasant to be around the rest of the day. In fact, they may have mandatory rest times this afternoon. It's for their survival that they take them.

 Elliott's class in music.

This kid. There are no words.

Lucy's class in music.

Julia and her class working on a rain stick craft.

Last night Julia had gymnastics, so I took the rest of the kids to a splash park/playground. It was 90 degrees and muggy.

Don't you love the lazy days of summer? Actually I am jealous. I want to sit at a park and read a book too.

 This kid's a nut.
