Elliott and I went to the cat cafe yesterday.

We also got frozen yogurt. Two summer bucket list items ✅.

Happy Anniversary Grandpa and Lulu!

The kids played Capture the Flag last night at Student Impact Week. They used bags filled with chalk paint to take out their opponents. They were slightly messy when I picked them up. A mom captured this picture. That is Elliott on the left and our neighbor Xander next to him.

June 7

Julia and Elliott helped me in the four year-old room yesterday at church.

Clay made a lot of progress on the deck yesterday.

Last night, Julia, Kat, and Elliott attended Student Impact Week at church. It’s a replacement for church camp this year. They had a lot of fun.

June 6

After two days of a virtual conference, Julia is now a HOBY Ambassador.

Clay worked on the deck All. Day. Long. He got all the boards that frame the outside done. Our deck has a lot of goofy angles, which made his job a million times harder than if it was square. He was hoping to get a lot more done than he did. Isn’t that the way with ALL home improvement projects? Also, he was complaining of the sun on his neck. We solved that problem. Clay is always a fashion icon.

June 5

Look who we ran into (Raymond looks REALLY tall next to Elliott)!

Braxton spent Thursday night with us. We took him to KY Kingdom with us for a few hours yesterday (while Kat worked from 10:30-2:30).

I needed to get the noisy people out of the house while Julia was attending the HOBY Leadership conference (virtually, unfortunately). She was the one student selected from her graduating class of 400+ students to attend this conference. It’s a big honor (and looks good on college applications).

Also, I needed to get the noisy people out of the house because Clay was trying to sleep. He got home from work Thursday at 4, worked on the deck for a few hours, and then unexpectedly had to go to work from 8pm-3am.

Clay picture-framed (?) the deck to prepare it for the boards. I read a book nearby and held boards for him as needed. I wasn’t a total sloth-Elliott and I also cut the grass. If the amount of stench coming off of you is a sign of a productive day, we were very productive. Shooey!

June 4

Yesterday didn’t go quite as expected. After dropping Kat off at work, Elliott, Lucy, and I decided to go to the Muhammad Ali Center. Julia was at home doing her ACT review. We grabbed a quick lunch downtown and just as we were getting ready to arrive at the museum, Kat calls us and tells us that they sent her home early (due to torrential downpours/slow business). So... we drove very slowly through the rain and picked her up. Poor girl looked like a drowned rat, so we headed home.

We used the extra time at home to make our summer bucket list. Kat has her own list on her phone, but it’s all stuff she plans to do with friends... not us. Not sure how she plans to get to these activities since she can’t drive!

Shannon and the kids came over for a few hours.

Elliott is taking advanced boxing/kickboxing at the gym now.

June 2

Clay came home from work early to finish getting the old deck boards off.

Picked up our summer Cultural Passes! I am excited that there are in-person places to visit this year. I think we’re all done with virtual learning.

I spent way longer than anticipated deep-cleaning the two bathrooms. Smallest rooms in the house shouldn’t take “too long.” Right? Wrong! They were gross!

Also took Kat to/from work and Elliott had jiu jitsu and wrestling. Kat is really enjoying her job! Yay!

June 1

We had composite decking delivered yesterday, so Clay and Elliott began the process of taking all the deck boards off.

We went to Mamaw and Bapaw’s house last night for Clay’s birthday.

Nora enjoyed helping put the candles on Clay’s cake.
