June 8

Did you know that yesterday was National Donut Day? Like I need a reason to celebrate donuts! We went to Krispy Kreme and got free donuts and spent 20+ minutes watching them make jelly-filled donuts. It was like our very own "How It's Made" episode. Or when Mr Rogers went to the Crayola Factory. Remember that?

Last night the kids and I went to the Fiddler's Contest about an hour away to cheer Papaw G on in the harmonica division. Clay had to work late and couldn't make it. He was pretty sad about that.

Look at Lucy's face - that kid is a ham!

 Go Papaw go!

 Watching Aunt Susie knit.

This picture isn't very good quality, but there's a sweet story behind it. Papaw G was told to come to the stage, which meant he placed in the harmonica division. Kat, Elliott, and I went closer to the stage to try and get a picture of him getting his ribbon. When they announced his name and that he won 4th place, Kat shouted "Go Papaw G!". The announcer said, "I heard that! Come up here and give your Papaw G a hug." So Kat and Elliott went to the stage and gave him a hug. Kat loved being up on the stage.

Some fun bluegrass music. Who doesn't love the spoons!?!

We met Tracy and the boys at McDonalds yesterday for lunch. The kids had fun playing.... until Elliott punch a boy in the face because he wouldn't get out of the way, and Lucy got tired (I knew this because she cried (more like screamed) and cried and fell asleep in the car soon after we left. Tracy and I now have 7 kids between us all under 9 years old, so we got some interesting looks by some of the other customers.

We met Jill and the kids at the zoo for a fun day yesterday. We started out with a scavenger hunt for information on different animals in the Islands exhibit area. The kids have been to the zoo so many times that they don't even really care about seeing the animals anymore. For them, it's mostly about seeing their friends and having their pictures taken on the animal statues.

The good news? Lucy now likes splash parks. The bad news? The temps were not warm enough for any of the other kids, so while Lucy was enjoying herself, everyone else sat out with towels wrapped around them. We spent about as much time in the splash park as we did getting all the swimsuits and sunscreen on. Lesson learned: only do the splash park on hot days.

I love that my kids love my friends' kids. It makes life so easy! These three had a great time!

June 3

After church yesterday, we went to Hubers to eat lunch and pick strawberries with Mamaw, Bapaw, Joe, and Nikole. We had awesome weather and ate TONS of strawberries. We managed to bring home over 30 pounds (combined) of strawberries too.

 Love these girls

Stuck.

Clay took Elliott out for some male bonding yesterday. They went to a radio-controlled airplane show. They ran into Phil, Scottie, and the boys while they were there.

We went over to say good-bye to Michelle, Josh, and the kids. Kat has decided that she wants to move to Missouri now too.

June 1

The kids had a blast at their sleepover at Scottie and Phil's. Elliott and Phil flew Phil's radio-controlled airplanes almost the whole time. The girls swam and played on the trampoline with Brady and Caleb. For dessert they had 'Smores. Who wouldn't love all that?

We had crummy rainy weather yesterday for Clay's birthday. We had planned to pick strawberries, but that didn't pan out. So we made the best of it and played outside in the rain.

Clay bought himself a new radio-controlled helicopter.... it's supposed to go upside down, etc., but so far he's still trying to figure out how to hover without crashing.

 Happy 34th Birthday Beavis!

This morning's plan were foiled due to more rain. Julia was supposed to have a softball game and Kat was going to set up a lemonade stand to collect more money for Necole's Place. Clay and Elliott are getting ready to go out and have some male-bonding at a radio-controlled plane air show. Elliott is in airplane heaven this weekend.
