Happy Father’s Day!

Both teens were at work yesterday, so we put Lucy and Elliott to work around the house. Lucy helped mestraighten up the house and make Father’s Day desserts. Elliott learned to use the weed eater and helped Clay in the yard.

Don’t feel too bad for them, they both got to go swimming at neighbors’ houses after they were done.

June 18

I wasn’t sure how Kentucky Kingdom would go this summer with my knee, but I wanted to take Elliott and Braxton to enjoy the Globetrotters (they are only performing for a week). I warned the boys that we may not stay long, but I am happy to report that we lasted all day until Kat got done working at 6pm. Not bad for 7 weeks post-surgery! All the walking is good for me. I still have to concentrate really hard to walk without a limp and even then I am sure I don’t walk as normal as I think I do. Hopefully that comes with time, more practice, and more physical therapy.

June 17

Lucy spent a few hours at a new friend’s house last night. Nadia’s family is going to start attending our co-op this year. I have known Nadia’s Mom, Leah, for 10 years. At the end of the night, Leah asked the girls if they think they will enjoy becoming friends. They told her they were already friends! Lucy is thrilled that someone her age is shorter than she is!

Our co-op had a social at Main Even for the middle and high schoolers. We took Bryson, Nadia’s big brother, to the social.

Clay and I dropped Elliott off for the social and had a date night.

We got Julia tickets to see Hamilton for her birthday. The crowd was really into the show and it was great to be back at a musical after Covid. Is Hamilton my favorite? No. But it’s good. Lin-Manuel Miranda is a genius.

They came home from VBS and decided to rearrange Lucy’s bedroom.

These two missed each other.

Reunited redheads

Most of yesterday was spent unpacking, doing laundry, grocery shopping, cutting the grass, vacuuming sand out of the van, etc.

June 12

This was in the mailbox when we got home! Kat also got one, but she doesn’t like to have her picture taken.

Julia’s report card also came in the mail. Straight A’s for her too! Because she is in some dual credit/AP classes, she got a 4.5 this year. On to 12th grade!?!

June 11

We gave three of the four kids Dramamine this morning before our drive. They slept a good portion of the time!

Atlanta, your traffic is terrible and made me say bad words! Seriously, it took FOREVER to drive through Atlanta. There was one road hazard/accident after another. I drove for five hours and only drove 250 miles because we spent the majority of the time in traffic.

13 hours into our drive and we’re sitting in traffic, not moving. Smoke up ahead and a firetruck just drove past us. It feels like we’re never going to get home! Once traffic starts moving, we still have at least three more hours of driving. Ugh!

June 10

Last day at the beach. Lucy and Clay made a sandcastle that Lucy named Shell City.

Uncle Stump flew home. Maddy and Jordan were at Universal Studios. Elliott and Grandpa went golfing.

We went to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. It was a nice aquarium, but there weren’t that many animals there.
