Snow cream

We didn’t get the 6-10 inches that was predicted, but five inches of powder is more than we’ve had in a few years. Snow is just so much fun! We’re supposed to get some more winter weather tonight/tomorrow.

Lucy’s gymnastics and Elliott’s wrestling practice were both canceled and Clay had to work from home. It was a good day. Bring on more snow!

February 16

This is what we woke up to yesterday. We were supposed to get 6-9 inches throughout the day. Because of the expected snow, Julia’s work canceled because they closed early, Elliott’s wrestling and jiu jitsu were canceled, Lucy’s piano lesson was canceled, and Abbie didn’t come. I have become the old curmudgeon that is excited when all activities are canceled. I took a shower around noon and changed into a clean pair of pajamas.

Since everyone was home, we made dumplings for dinner. Lucy is quite the helper.

February 15

Elliott got pinned in the first round (by his teammate who went on to win first place), pinned a kid in the second round, and lost by points at the last minute in his third match. Not his best day, but he learned some new things and had fun with his teammates.

Clay took the girls and Raymond to Chuck-E-Cheese for lunch.

My Valentine’s Day gift to myself is a Gus pillow

Clay’s Valentine’s gift to himself is a weighted blanket.

We are so romantic. No?

February 14

Elliott and I drove a couple of hours away yesterday afternoon for his wrestling meet today. It’s called the Valentine’s Day Massacre. Happy Valentine’s Day? I guess it’s a good thing I don’t care much about this “holiday”. It was fun to have Elliott all to myself yesterday afternoon and evening.

February 13

Last night was Night to Shine. It had to be held virtually this year. Jenn’s (in the blue dress) sister threw a dance for Jenn, Todd, and Kayla and invited me to come surprise them. We ate, danced, and laughed. I love these guys! They enjoy life.

February 12

Ice ice baby

Abbie’s STEM class learned about concussions and had to make a “helmet” for their “brain” (egg). Of course, Lucy wanted to participate. They named their eggs George and Jarold. After the experiment, we cooked them for a late breakfast.

Both eggs survived the four foot drop.

Abbie spent another night with us. We know she’d rather be with her parents, but she has been a trooper. I am sure she is looking forward to her nice, quiet house after being with our craziness non-stop for two days.

February 11

Due to icy roads, Kat’s school had to meet virtually yesterday. I hate that-for her. For me? Yay! 160 minutes of my day NOT spent driving.

Kat was supposed to bring a friend home from school to spend the night. Canceled.

Youth group? Canceled.

Elliott’s kickboxing? Canceled.

Wrestling practice? Canceled?

Julia’s work? Only thing NOT canceled. Although they closed at 5pm, so she only worked a couple of hours.

Abbie ended up spending the night because the roads were too icy for Bob to come get her. So we did end up with one extra body in the house. Lucy and Abbie were thrilled with their impromptu sleepover.

Wednesdays are usually crazy, so I was thankful for the cancellations.

February 10

Yesterday was Amelia’s 10th birthday, so Shannon brought treats for the girls to eat after gymnastics.

February 9

Kat worked with her youth group small group to fill bags for Roo’s Wish yesterday. These bags (with gloves, socks, toiletries, etc) go to kids in foster care.

This little lady oozes sass

We survived a busy Monday! I wasn’t home between 3pm and 7:3pm, so we grabbed dinner out. After co-op we had Kat’s small group project, Elliott’s  jiu jitsu, Julia’s job, and Lucy’s piano lesson. Thankfully, Elliott’s wrestling practice was canceled!
