April 20

Clay took Kat and Elliott to play frisbee golf and I took Julia and Lucy for a six mile bike ride through the park yesterday late afternoon. Spring is beautiful.

For dinner we got Taco Luchador. That corn? I crave it.

April 19

Clay took the kids for a run (Elliott)/ bike ride (the girls) last night. I got about 20-30 minutes to myself at home! I had done an exercise video earlier in the day, otherwise he would have made me go too. 😳

Our Governor asked families/businesses to light up their homes/business with a green light in honor of those who died of the Corona virus. Then our little neighbor boy painted a lightbulb green for us and it was hard to say no to him.

April 18

Lucy finished her ocean box yesterday.

Julia and Kat had a Bible study last night. It was supposed to held in someone’s house... but...well... Coronavirus.

While the big girls were occupied, we had family game night and homemade milkshakes with the little two. Some families should not take selfies. We are one of those families.

April 17

Lucy enjoyed chatting with Maddy yesterday.

Clay took Elliott to ride bikes at the park yesterday. They didn’t take any pictures. What’s wrong with those two!?!

I had to run to Wal-Mart last night. They have one-way aisles.

April 16

We stopped by Mamaw and Bapaw’s to sing happy birthday and give her cards.

Lucy had a Zoom meeting with one of her co-op classes yesterday. She enjoyed chatting with her friends. The teacher had them participate in a scavenger hunt. She would tell them to find something blue, soft, noisy, etc then give them time to find something to share with their friends.

In the background is Clay... voluntarily taking the same Algebra 2 test Kat took. For. Fun.

April 15

Happy Birthday Mamaw Pat!
Happy Birthday Jessica!

Here’s a little video to celebrate Mamaw’s birthday:

I took these pictures yesterday when I realized that all three girls were working on math at the same time. Julia’s teachers assigned more work this week. Her math teacher taped a lecture. Kat was in an online class meeting with her Algebra 2 class. And Lucy is learning multiplication.

Clay decided that the lighting in our basement (specifically the side with the ping pong table) was too dark, so he replaced the lighting. Now it’s so bright it really shows off that lovely brown carpet, the paneling, and the dirty ceiling.

I overheard the kids ask him, “What are you going to fix today?”.

April 14

Since the social distancing due to Corona virus, grocery stores have reduced their hours (to allow more time for cleaning and restocking), made the first hour for the elderly and people who are immune-compromised, added clear plastic shields to protect cashiers, and limited the number of high-demand items (meat, eggs, milk, tp, cleaning products, and paper towels). Now they have one door for entering and one for leaving. They have employees at the doors to make sure that one person is allowed in for every person that leaves. And the line to get in has cones to show you where to stand (6 feet apart). I was at the store first thing and it was pretty well stocked... except no tp or paper towels, which I thankfully didn’t need to purchase.

I always feel weird grocery shopping. I feel like I need to explain to people that I am not hoarding food. This is one week’s groceries for our family. It. Is. Ridiculous.

One good thing to come from this? Between low gas prices, Kroger fuel points, and infrequent driving, I spent less than $20 on gas... and it should last a month!

Clay is home this week, so he helped Elliott with a science experiment on skin sensitivity. Using paper clips open at different increments, he touched Clay on his back, stomach, arms, legs, face, etc to decide where the most sensitive skin is.

Thank goodness Kat is good at math. Every time I grade it I don’t even know most of what I am grading!

April 13

We took an untraditional version of our traditional Easter picture.

We watched church together (from home) as a family. It will be so nice when we can all go back to church!

I made two dozen deviled eggs and not one was left. We also had ribs, macaroni and cheese, honey carrots, and rolls.

April 12

Happy Easter!

Elliott was past due on a haircut. A friend found a YouTube channel that gave step-by-step instructions. Easy Peasy!

I put Lucy to work filling the eggs for our egg hunt.

One of Elliott’s wrestling teammates had a surprise parade of friends drive by his house for his birthday. Elliott enjoyed waving to his teammates from the van. He was so excited to see some friends and one of his coaches.

I bought two different kinds of egg dye kits. One came with five colors. The other was supposed to come with nine color tablets and oil to marble the eggs. Paas forgot to add them, so that was a bust. The kids rolled with it and still enjoyed dyeing their eggs.

Clay spent almost the entire day working on the dishwasher. He had to make two trips to Lowe’s. The people who installed the previous dishwasher did a terrible job. Clay, being the perfectionist that he is, installed this one correctly, after having to fix a bunch of things. But seriously... two FULL days on a dishwasher. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Because the weather isn’t supposed to be nice today, we had our egg hunt last night.

April 11

After watching a starfish dissection video, Lucy decided she was going to dissect the starfish instead of me. She did a great job!

She and I had an outing of Taco Bell (in the car because you can’t eat inside the restaurant) and then an Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt. Through a local website that we love, we found an interactive map that leads you to different homes that have Easter eggs hidden. You stay in your car, so you aren’t breaking any social distancing rules. It was fun!

We were near our favorite local library (which has been closed for three weeks due to the Corona virus) when we were searching for the Easter eggs, so we got out and stretched our legs. They have walking stories along their sidewalks.

These two played a ton of ping pong (that’s Kat hiding behind the paddle).

The new dishwasher arrived! The wiring and flooring below the old dishwasher was rigged incorrectly, so Clay spent most of the afternoon until late in the night fixing things. He’s super handy to have around.

Lucy read Nonna and Grandpa Carroll a bedtime story.
