December 9

Elliott and Toby had a little fun after woodworking class was done.

These two, on their own, and at the exact same time, decided to organize/clean their rooms.

Kat’s school picture finally arrived!

December 8

After dropping Kat and Elliott off at carpool, Lucy and I grabbed a treat.

We spent some time with Kyrie.

Lucy also did a trial CrossFit class. She wants to start taking CrossFit.

Kat and Elliott had their midterm tests yesterday and then had the youth group Christmas party last night.

December 7

We have added taking care of Kyrie to our list of things to do. Kat is primarily responsible, but she had school yesterday and today, so Lucy and I took the morning shift.

I got a few yearbook pages done.

Kat went to FCA after school. Elliott stayed home from FCA and wrestling. He is feeling better, but we decided to make sure he didn’t overdo it at practice. His (and Kat’s) finals are today and we need him healthy.

Julia woke up yesterday feeling improved. However, she felt bad again midday. She learned her lesson about staying on top of the Tylenol to keep her fever down. She is staying home from school again today to make sure she feels 100% before going to school.

December 6

We sang happy birthday to Lucy yesterday at co-op.

My U.S. History class (Elliott is fourth from right) recited the Preamble and the Gettysburg Address during our program.

We had pizza and cookies to celebrate our last week of the semester.

Fun in P.E.

It wasn’t all fun and games at our house. Julia stayed home from school with a fever and sore throat. As the day progressed, she was nauseous and developed a cough.

Elliott came home from co-op after lunch, complaining that his stomach hurt and he felt “lousy”. No fever though.

Mamaw Pat picked him up from co-op, brought him home, and then went to the store to get the sickies some food/drinks.

So thankful for our pediatrician’s office. They have been so swamped with flu and strep lately that they have started staying open late two days a week. Julia has strep. We were REALLY hoping it wasn’t the flu. Because there’s an antibiotic shortage right now (who knew!?!), the receptionist called a local family pharmacy to see if they had the antibiotic (Kroger and Walgreens have been out of it). We got home and she took it right before she went to bed at 8pm. Poor girl!

I made 18 loaves of pumpkin bread yesterday.

Elliott had a wrestling meet. He lost his first match, but won the next four by pinning his opponents!

December 3

I organized a social for the middle and high schoolers at co-op. We rang bells for the Salvation Army.

Then we separated into teams and had a Christmas photo scavenger hunt. I was with high schoolers.

Elliott’s middle school team won.

December 2

Happy Birthday Nikole!!!

For some reason, the first week of December has been our busiest week of the holiday season for the last few years. Starting tonight, we have a lot going on for the next week. My dining room counter is my prep station. Ha!
  • I have cookies thawing out for Monday’s co-op party.
  • The candy canes are for tonight (we will hand them out to kids). I organized for the middle and high schoolers at co-op to ring bells for the Salvation Army, followed by a Christmas photo scavenger hunt and hot chocolate.
  • I have all the supplies to make 14 loaves of pumpkin bread Saturday.
  • The toy is for Kat to donate. Her history teacher is collecting toys to take to Appalachia.
  •  The socks are for the kids’ youth group Christmas party. They are donating them to the homeless ministry.
I don’t know how unorganized people manage life!

In addition to all that I mentioned, I have been helping Lucy plan her birthday party. Thankfully, she is  planning most of it and I am just offering some guidance.

Who has time to shop for Christmas gifts!?! Not this gal.

Elliott saw that Lucy named the elf Joy and quickly informed her that his name is Mickey. Lucy gave him some big eyes and moved him to a stocking.

December 1

Last night we decorated the tree.
