Elliott had a wrestling teammate that tested positive for covid and had been at practice last Wednesday. USA Wrestling required the entire team be tested (Elliott’s results were negative). Because he had a swab shoved up both nostrils, he was able to talk me into a McDonald’s frappe at 9am.
If anyone else turned up positive, they’d likely not be able to compete in the middle or youth state meets this weekend. A coach turned up positive... so the team cannot compete at the state meet. Elliott took the news in stride. If 2020/21 has taught us anything, it’s to not be upset when things don’t go as planned. I feel so bad for his 8th grade teammates who worked hard and wanted one last chance to go to state. Covid sucks.
Monday night when I drove to pick Julia up from work, I was re-routed off the main road through a neighborhood due to a bad accident. There were at least 10-15 police officers blocking all six lanes of traffic. Yesterday morning we found out that a 17 year-old girl from Julia’s school (also one of her chick-fil-a co-workers) was killed by a man on heroin (and other drugs), driving a stolen truck. He was heading the wrong direction in her lane and hit her car head on. So sad.
While Julia worked yesterday, Chick-Fil-A had a lot of kids call in. They had a pastor from a local church hanging around in case any of the employees needed to process their grief. Some of the managers from other local Chick-Fil-A’s showed up at Julia’s store with employees to give a hand. That was sweet. I took Julia to a candlelight vigil at her school last night. So tragic. Pray for Madelynn’s family. I cannot imagine their grief. The man is being charged with murder. He needs prayer too. And Jesus. He needs Jesus.

One of the only times, recently, that Kat has cooperated for a picture. Isn’t Peppy cute?

Our Internet went out this morning. Of course it did! Clay is in New Mexico for work. Things always go haywire when he travels. Thankfully it came back on before Julia and Abbie had NTI.

This morning, after I dropped Kat off at a friend’s house to carpool to school (let’s hope this carpool works out because it saves me over an hour of driving), my gas light came on. Of course it did! I was in pajamas and slippers. Doh!
